Archy... There were some little peelers right before the wind came up around noon. I didn't get any, though.

I just got back, I had the day off, so I headed down there despite the flat forecast. Early on it was nearly flat, unrideable. It was high tide. So, I waited about 90 minutes and had the whole beautiful place to myself. It was so relaxing to watch the water and see fish and spinner fish leaping out .

I would've just paddled out for the fun of getting salted, but a few days ago my surf buddy was out there and a huge spinner shark leaped out so close to her she could see it's teeth and eyeball. She was lucky it didn't land on her and knock her out.

So, I decided to wait and see if someone showed up. Eventually a tourist came by and said, "you look like you know what your doing" I guess based on my gear, and asked some snorkeling questions... I messed with his mind a bit about sharks. He looked my age. So, he consented to watch for ten minutes and said he would get me if I got hurt.

So I paddled out. That first spray of salt was wonderful. So great to be out there in refreshing ocean. So, DPSUP, by then there were occasional almost knee high teasers, but the wind has picked up and made it hard to find what was wave, what not. I got three, but they were still so shallow, I bailed.

All in all, it was great to paddle around and to have a nice day off...

tomorrow looks more promising but C-C-COLD!

A couple really good days this week. The first one overhead and side-offshore, the other, perfect chest high A frames. This picture was taken towards the end of it all so the size had died down a bit but strong offshores make for the prettiest pictures.

A friend of mine, with enough sense to bring a better board for the conditions (stiff offshores, lots of current, tough paddling) My 5'11 quad wasn't getting it done.

I checked it early around sunrise but it was high tide and too deep, plus wind was strong out of the N / NW, making it barely rideable. I decided to go to breakfast and waited for low tide around 2pm.

Good decision, Wind died and waves were breaking around waist high and clean. I rode the LB and got some great rides. Nobody out but me. Air in the 50's, water was a warm 70 degrees give or take. It was warmer in the water than out.

    Florida in January, can't complain.

Afterwards, my wife and I went to dinner at a place called Hula Moon. They had Hawaiian dancers and a ukulele band. They played music from Hawaii, Tahiti, and New Zealand. I had grouper and margaritas. Couldn't ask for a better day / night.

We have over a week long flat spell going here (VB) through at least the end of this week. Was lucky to get out for a bit on Wednesday. After that, it's been like a pond out there. Water temps dropping into mid-40s.

I was all suited up and ready to go at low incoming tide this afternoon but it just wasn't big enough to get me to paddle out. Wasn't in the mood for a distance paddle, just walked the beach and did some sand reconne and then went home.

Longboardable waves in Cape May today.

Probably should have stayed at home in Monmouth, but was going down there anyway. Definitely not worth a 200+ mile round trip drive for them, but was in the area with my best friend and his parents and other famile live down there.

It was nice to get out today though, was in the water for about 4 hours or so, maybe a little bit more.
