Got out yesterday morning for an hour before work. It was pleasant but not much wave-wise. It was enjoyable watching a dad teach his young daughter to surf, him pushing her into a few small waves, and hearing her laugh as she stood up and rode into shore.

Nice! And trunks in Rhode Island already? I feel bad for wearing my 3/2 I'm Tuesday when it was 96 degrees with the 64 degree water temperature!

Got out tonight for a couple hours. It was pretty flat and barely even longbortable. I mostly did what I complain about people doing all the time. Laying on my bort in flat surf. I did catch a few though, so it wasn't completely terrible.

Hey, dude. Don't feel bad. I'm an old, skinny dude. I wear a full suite til it hits 75 degrees. If I owned a spring suite, I'd probably be in that after 70 deg. I don't stay warm at almost 60 yrs old like I used ta.

I'm still out there, though! Life is good.

On that longboard I sit pretty high out of the water, and it was really warm with the sun out. My lower three extremities were a bit chilly, but not too bad. On a shortboart, I'd still want to go with the 3/2 for sure.

Told the boss to stick it in his ear, againe, gonna head out early to try this long period ground swell thang on my Driftah.
I'm still in awe that we get to surf energy that is emanating from somewhere down around the Cape of Good Hope & the South Atlantic....surfing is an amazing trip....

Been curious about that small long period thang headed your way.

1.6 @ 19 secs = chest high. I'm betting the sets will be bigger, and the lulls *much* longer lol.

Forecast looks good for a lot of you Right Coast guys tomorrow. Hope to hear that you guys have been carefully peeling the fruits of your labor.

Where do you think the optimal spot will be, for this long period phenomena. Montauk? OBX? the 'Mar?

when you get some chest high rides for 100 yards, you'll be thinking "bombs" lol.

I know what super long period and ground swells do out here. Generally the stuff that dreams are made of.

I'm thinking some of you guys are gonna enjoy this one. ;)

Just don't know enough about your coastline, but if I were gonna venture a guess, it would be a place with good exposure to the south, but enough nooks and crannies to put a little bend in the swell so the entire beach doesn't just close out. Forecast looks promising north of S. Cackalacky, I don't want to piss anybody off lol.

Those pix that CWhite posted of that long period stuff at his local from a few years ago gives me an idea that some spots will be pretty damn good.

I'm gonna miss this one. Lots of work to do at the house I own in PA, winds don't like right at my spot, and Mary f@cking Lee lurking just offshore. I'm not feeling the mojo here people.

I am hearing the Mar is supposed to have 20'+. I am heading south....somewhere between Salvo and Lighthouse. I imagine some places in NJ with the angle would be picking it up. This is sort of an anomaly....not sure it could be knee high screamers.

It should be fun. It would light our beaches up if it were down here, that's for sure.

Pretty sure you've got the right idea.

Look for the place that has favorable winds too. Or all you'll get is a 100 yard onshore closeout.
