Friday was great. Waist to chest and clean/hollow. Maiden voyage for my beater 9' log was decent, though the surf really begged for a shorter board. I have no pics, only memories.

Saturday was fun as hell! I hit kookatan mid morning until lunch and it just kept getting better and better. If my father in law wasn't in the hospital, would've stayed out all day.

forgot my booties on friday and upwelling sent the water down to about 55 deg (SI said it would be over 60)...toes were ice cubes. It was crowded and I dropped in on a guy, but then I immediately kicked out. Even though there was still plenty of that wave to shred, the dude kicks out right behind me just to whine about how I dropped in on him...what a baby. Got tired early, so I stuck to the inside and got a bunch of lefts...more like bumpy roller coaster rides than performance surfing, but make-able and fun.

Sat was onshore early. I got a couple decent ones real quick, but then one of my contact lenses got all cloudy (acuvue sucks in salt water). By the time I changed them out and ran back, things got super sloshy and the swell jumped up to overhead meaty slabs...got one more so-so right but mostly just got pitched & pounded.

Sunday was smaller than forecast...but also less windy. Shoulder high, nice semi-clean long runners with occasional bash-able steep sections. Surfed my brains out for four hours...until I just couldn't paddle any more. Got home, laid down and literally fell asleep within 5 seconds.

Nice pics mitchell! and great story valhalla. I've really enjoyed hearing how such a modest looking swell managed to work its way up the coast and make some really great waves. Tides were a big deal around equinox...

Small clean waves this afternoon after wk. South swell never really delivered the forecast size so groveled on the mini simmons in some thigh to waist high soft a-frame peaks. Very rippable bumps. Mellow, warm air temps, sun peeking out from time to time. A seal was checking us out for what seemed like the entire session.

Perfect little backside nugget this am. Grabbed the rail, laid back on my ass and watched the lip reel perfectly over my head. Dry exit and a littl hack to finish.

Got a few long ones I didn't make, but fun time in the tube. Surfing is the greatest thing EVER!

I took the day off from work a couple days ago when I saw the forecast. Luckily the forecast stayed locked in. Got in the water around 7:45am and surfed for 5+ hours only got out once to switch from my LB to my SB. The first peak I paddled out at was empty till I started catching waves, then suddenly the whole circus showed up, this included a pack of kayakers.

Decided to move down the beach where it appeared to be breaking better. Found an empty peak and it was way cleaner and bigger. Was catching one after another for the next few hours. Never really stopped. When the tide push started pulsing it was a conveyor belt of chest to shoulder / head sets. Glassy as could be. Perfect morning. I needed it. Work has sucked lately so today was a good way to decompress.

Sweet! I've been landlocked all week with a project. This weekend looks good, but it's always better when you take a surf hookey day off from work. It feels almost dirty, but in a very clean way.

Blowing out of here @ 3:00 today and making my three hour plus drive to the condo. Hopefully getting in some twilight surfing tonight. Looks clean, knee to thigh for tomorrow so will probably be in the wet suite for most of the day... been way too long since I've been in the water...

Waist to chest high and pretty clean with 6 people out yesterday morning. Water is in the 60's. Probably won't wear booties next time.

Haha. I couldn't surf much this winter so I don't think I ever acclimated to cold water. I usually go to the springer at about 64 degrees which will happen this week I imagine. I'm camping with the family in the NC mountans this weekend and it's supposed to be in the 20s sat. night. Good campfire weather!
