surfed a couple sessions today. waist high, nothing special but the wind was straight off, and the swell stuck around so I did as well. Pic from in between surfs, mid afternoon. This was about it for the most part, but for a summer weekend ill take it.
Our waves looked pretty similar to yours today. 2' @ 18 seconds with offshore wind made some tasty waist to chest with shoulder high nugget sets. Most crowded I've ever seen this place, but it was pretty spread out so not too many shenanigans. Should be about the same tomorrow so I'm on it. Glad to see you guys actually scoring in June
Jersey did it's thing today!! Went in the AM for two hours and almost got into my first legit barrel. Went again in the PM after a few beers with the boys - took a good friend on his first surf. Sorry for introducing another kook into the lineup but he's one of us now. Frothing!!!
It was a good day in Monmouth County, but not as good (for me) as the other Jersey guys had. Really crowded lineup too. I did get a chance to go up the road a little bit and had a nice early evening session, with a smaller crowd. I've surfed a remarkable amount for May-June over the last 6 or 7 weeks, so there's little to complain about.
Yesterday was fun. Started at Island Beach which sucked. Bars out there right now are no good. Made my way north and found some really great surf in the evening. Pretty much on par with what everyone else is saying. I was on my simmons. Could have definitely gone with my shorty, but that thing is too much fun. Series of lefts, rights, fun arcing turns and cutbacks. Saw a bunch of interesting wildlife too. Heading out for seconds here shortly. Hopefully there is some residual swell out there for me. Surfed 9 out of the last 10 days. With all sessions chest high+. Life is great.
Lots of news here. Finally got engaged on Thursday night. Right in front of my favorite peak. So it's been a pretty hectic few days with breaking the news you family and friends. Lots of drinking and celebrating. Saw there looked to be some promising waves today, so i took it fairly easy last night. Paddled out at the peak i proposed in front of. Waist - chest high. Mid tide filing in to full. Offshore. A little disorganized but it wasn't a issue. Took out the mini. Iv Said it here a bunch. But i literally can't stop. The thing just ooozes flow. I can't catch a single freaking wave on that thing without getting completely stoked on how fun it is. Rights and lefts. Got one right that offered a series of cutbacks. The way that thing comes around and accelerates out of turns/holds it speed is amazing. Super cruisey and flowy. That was my first wave. Was totally feeling myself after that one. Got a really good left that was more down the line with a bunch prefect little peaks to bounce off of. It was a solid 3 or 4 turn wave. And i just kept going faster and faster as the thing went on. I freaking love that mini man. Don't know how i ever survived without it. After awhile i had to get out. It turned into kook city in the worst way. Dudes dropping in on me and going right on a left. If your going to drop in on me ast least go the right way. Guys running each other over on LBs. I still had a bunch left in the tank but was happy with what i got so figured it'd be better to leave before i decide to murder someone. Water was pretty damn cold today. I was ok in the 3/2, but it was much colder than it was just a few days ago. Boots wouldn't of been a bad choice. Stoked on the session and stoked on life. I'm a happy bassmon today.
Second sesh yesterday afternoon was every bit as good as the morning, but totally different. Better shape in the afternoon, but not quite as much punch. But the tide was better so the lines were super clean and still hollow. Size really didn't drop much all day... still a few head high waves coming through until I left the beach around 3:30. Got two more nice barrels making it four for the day. Rode the shortboard in the morning, and grabbed the little fish for the afternoon... which was nice, to switch it up. What a great day to be a surfer in New Jersey.
Very small thigh high pulse this morning. Went for a 2 mile paddle this morning and turned to catch an occasional small wave; made my day. And now that I took "the edge" off, I will spend the rest of the day with my bride. Nice NH day here today.....
You got engaged??? You have my deepest heart-felt sympathies....... Actually, just kidding--my marriage has been the very best thing I ever did. I am alive because my lady took care of me even when I was stupid. Congrats, man. Hope it all works well for you as well!! I had a great small wave session and long paddle this morning as well.
R.I. was amazing this morning. in the water at 5:15 4-6' clean waves with 70 degree, sun filled sky! some nice 40-50 yard rides with some epic wipeouts that'll keep my nose running all day! pirate smile all the way home!
Don't know-- I don't pay attention to any of his films, blogs, etc. Find them boring. Hope all is good with you bagus.
no doubt my wife has saved my life! 2 beautiful girls and very cool shepherd! very grateful, LIFE IS GOOD! p.s. congrats BASS!

I hope for nothing but happiness for your future...congrats again!
Congratulations to you Bassmon. A good marriage is truly a blessing in life. My crew took me out yesterday. We found a nice small peak. Getting salted was a huge deal and filled my being with gratitude. The locals were tremendously loving and that also was enough to help me live another day. I willed myself to pop up on a small knee high, refusing to avoid the fear by lying down. While I surfed like I had only been at it for a couple of months, I have learned to let go of pride and focus on the Beauty of the moment. Buoys, treat every wave like it might be your last, and you will be richer for it.
