I mostly just saw some jellyfish, but it was decent in Manasquan tonight. A couple of kooks, as per usual with the Summer crowd. It was pretty much just longbortable. Only was able to go out for 90-100 minutes, after having to work and not getting home until close to 7:30. Put on my 3/2 and got on my bicycle and pedaled over with my buddy. Surfed pretty much until last light. We were both kind of warm in 3/2's. Perhaps it was the upper 80's air temperature. This was my first time in the water here since before I went to California 2 weeks ago. I've been having to work ever since I've gotten back, like I usually do for about 10 days in July. I think I'll be trunking it from now until September, unless the water temps dip drastically or cool air temps for a night. Water is 71 right now. I work through Monday, but I may be able to sneak an hour or 90 minutes in tomorrow night again, if I get home early enough.
good to be back in the water again. folly was stomach hi to rare chest. longboardable for sure, but hollow enough for the squirming shorties. had only a handful, but it was good enough to kill my hangover and get to work late. looking forward to the day off- def need to be back before that push leaves us flat over the wknd
4th time just now where a faucet is running from my nose at work. haha. i should just tell ppl i'm clearly sick n get back out there
Fun, clean, waist high surf this morning off Dam Neck. Took the day off to get in some AM longboarding and get ready for family 12-day trip to Syracuse area tomorrow. Won't be doing much surfing on Oneida Lake.
trunked it this morning. water was pleasant and it was pretty hot even at 7 a.m. Waves were no bigger this morning than lately, but there is little bit more energy in the water with the 9 second swell periods so it was more punchy and shortboardable. Shot one of my bud.
Look like some fun ones in the North today. It was super fun in Jax FL this am too. https://911surfreport.com/surf-repo...uly-13th-sunrise-surf-report-jacksonville-fl/
What Mitchell said about swell period. TPTSNBN was waist on sets & the wave machine switch was in the 'on' position early this morn. Had a lot of fun on the 10' Ruddy, working on carving turns: great boart, vry happy on it. Departed concrete land 0300 arr 0515, checked State, checked NB, went to TPTSNBN; paddled out approx 0600, exited ocean approx 0830. Nobody out. Only a '6' showing on the gate vehicle counting thing. I luv it out there on weekdaze.
It's been 3 weeks since we've had surf. An early tropical wave moved across the straits of Florida and we've been getting some small east windchoppe yesterday and a bit more south today. Made it out today, the water was super clear and warm, just coming off the high tide. My local go to spot was packed elbow to elbow, and it was too small to hold the crowd, so I went to a county park, and lucked out, my buddy was in the tower so he let me drift through. I would walk south to the hotels, get one or two rights usually just having to cutback to miss the rock. Then drift outside the rock into the park, then get a few waist high sections over the reef. I made one cutback over the shallows, and got a few nice rights, but it was like surfing in slow motion it was soooo weak. Not complaining though. Waves are a mid July rarity down here. Life is goode!
Yewww! Nah wasn't much, but my last 2 waves were legit chest+ down the line screamers. Best 2 waves I've had in weeks. Lightning forced me out, but I'm satisfied. Bought a foamie last week, so I've been getting in almost everyday.
Good idea archy. Might have to get me a foamie for these crowded conditions. I remember as a kid we used to have a blast on my friend's Morey Doyle. A reform riding machine.
Little bit of Jersey Juice in these little bit of little windows of waves these past two days popping up and then disappearing again. The 85 mile drive out to md anderson cancer center, all scans are free and clear, drive back, reset the greenough 4a center fin on my new 7'6" baby pink resin tint with baby blue pinlines raised-deck double-wing diamond tail 5-fin bonzer and it was fantastic! Bonzer day! Pure stoke.
Right on... Just up the beach from you (prolly) and it was way fun. Almost the same as yesterday, but maybe a touch more pop to it. Rode the fish. Felt good...
Finally some waves with a little size on them. Chest / shoulder high and bumpy with light - moderate onshore winds. I rode the Flashback Fish for a change, kinda tired of LB'ing so much lately. It was fun early and I caught some good ones. The tide started to fill in and messed it up, so I waited for a good one and rode it in. Felt good to actually drop into a wave.
Can agree with my other jersey dudes. Last two days have been some fun S swell. Have had a number of fun backside rides. Had a really strong backside hack that shot me out and then got a little head dip. That felt good. Surfed right over top of a ray today. That sucker spooked me for a sec. Surfed through some mild lightning with only two other guys. Not a bad day. Need to start getting out of the water before pure darkness though. I'm always the last guy out. Not my best habit.
In The Eye. Had a couple customs from malcolm, but he and duncan do not comprehend our surf. Scott does.
In the water at 5:15AM, streetlights still on and overcast....small thigh high to waist (few) , glassy, and on my Egg....perfectomundo!! Surfed for 90 minutes all by myself, not a soul around to witness my slashing and ripping zee waves to smithereens!! Now coffee and toast..........
Oh Barry keyboard surfin' don't count Yesterday out in MOCO had a couple fun ones Rays sliding right under me as I vibe or imbibe some edibullz Had a sloppy shorepound sesh this morning before reporting to the pizza factory We sure could use some real waves though Man lookin' back summer 2015 was batchin'
