Found some fun waves in Jersey today. Better than anticipated. Time to drink some beers and watch the Tahiti Pro. Stoked!

Yeah Wavestrom, this swell was no secret.

I checked the cams and First Beach looked completely zoo'd out. So I made a tactical decision to hit a local reef thinking it just might be big enough to break.

Got there, and this isn't a hugely well-known spot, and there's 8 dudes on longboards on the main peak. On this kind of swell, two people is kind of max. So I went to a different part of the reef that wasn't as good, but then again, I was the only one on it. Since I was riding my fish, it seemed the prudent move.

I didn't catch a lot of waves, but I got two real zippers, just walling up about waist high in about 18" of water. What the heck, it was a nice day and I got a few waves.

I know Second Beach was probably really good, but there was just no way I was dealing with that crap.

I know exactly what you mean about the 10am crowd. It gets to the point that there simply isn't a line anywhere, between the surfers and bathers clogging every square foot of water the length of the surfing area.

Same where i was, a ways north of you. This tropical system is flaring up, and looks to produce some surf with more size tuesday into wednesday.

Wow, jersey before dark was really really good- it built to solid chest high peeling all the way to the beach!

Looked much better then the morning or mid day, although I only checked it and didn't surf.

Funny thing was- when I paddled out I thought it was gonna be waist hi at best, took out the ol 9'10 pig - was surprised to see it at consistent chest high! The funny thing was that I thought to myself: wow look at these "liners" coming through! Haha

Possibly the best (for me) waves of the summer so far (tonight, not afternoon)

No surfing today, but did spend a few hours at the beach, mostly in the water. What really made me laugh was that there were literally about 50 people ''surfing'' at the inlet in Manasquan today. If this was a weekday after Labor Day, there would have been maybe 4 or 5 people in the water on borts. If this was a weekend from late September onward, there would have been no more than 5 borts in the water, with the mediocre conditions today.

AM sesh before work Friday and before church yesterday. Brief windows of opportunity for semi-decent, maybe waist high stuff. Water has warmed a bit in past week...in high 70s now. Been getting a fair amount of rain here off and on since Friday. Looks mostly flat out there this morning.

Wow...just had a small wave session about 2 hrs...in at almost dark, first light, tide was high, waves thigh to waist, but perfect for long boarding. Nice and glassy as well, and best of all.....nobody else out for 1st hour, then some morons came in a few streets down.
Love Monday mornings when there is a swell--I can hear the groaning and crying as people get up to go to work, knowing full well there is a swell running and that their lives suck!! toooooo bad!!!!!

Yesterday was pretty damn fun. Low tide, about chest high. Wanted to avoid the crowds so literally just walked west as every other surfer followed each other east. Granted, my favorite sand bar is to the east, but there were waves every where and it all looked the same. Surfed for about 2 hours just me and a friend all alone. Then it got weird. I guess the spot we were at only works at dead low? Only an hour after dead low it got super fat and soft. Got out and walked way down east. Past all the crowds, to this other spot. It was fairly crowded but everyone seemed to be following good etiquette. Surfed for another hour and a half down there. It was nice to feel some power and take a wave or two on the head. Granted it was only chest high, but that's twice as big as what we've been getting all summer. Caught a bunch of fun waves and was awesome being alone on a nice Sunday morning with waves. People are dumb haha keep following the crowd.

Looks like we may be getting somthing in the HH range Wednesday. I think im getting sick cough cough

Been meaning to report seshes in SB VA 7/31-7/4 (DosXX, hope you scored that week). After a hard northern wind driven rain on arrival 7/29, it started to clean up late Sunday. Monday provided a few choppy but fun waist+ sessions, but Tuesday set up nice, soft off-shores, super clean, with some occasional stomach-shoulder+ set waves if you were patient. I had a peak all to myself. The swell slowly diminished as the week progressed, but was able to score waves each day. Here's some pictures, that give an idea, but they don't depict the better waves, as I was out there

Was back on Cape last week and was able to get some 3 out of the last 7 days, so things have picked up for this sweller. DP yesterday was a fun punch wind swell, with rights and lefts off an A that was working w/in a couple of hours of high tide through low. Got in an hour and a half early.

Pretty good wknd of waves down here in the carolina. Waist to shoulder. some days were choppier than others but def rideable all wknd. put in a couple mornings and nights, better in the mornings. Had a worthwhile session yesterday morning into the afternoon w less heavy swell. Kept it going for hours as every one of us were scoring some good ones, ended up getting a fair share of sun and drained me out. Got a couple more days of swell before the next ripple hits next week, prolly would be better if i had the next couple mornings off work since lo tide drains the swell swamp before work starts

Serfed for 9hrs yesterday. It was fun waist to stomach, rare chest S swell. Mini simm got a lot of loving as the short period was kind of gutless. Caught a ton of waves. Weather was nice, in good company, minimal crowds and waves. I'll take that any summer day. Feeling like a mac truck hit me today though. Won't be able to surf this long when I'm older so I'm using this youth to my advantage. Looks like we might have a real wave on Wednesday... fingers crossed.

Yep, I already put in for the day off on Wednesday. Was actually better than I thought it would be here yesterday morning. Waist high, light offshore, no one but me out at sun up. Not bad for a weekend in the Summer.

Small but fun leftovers this morning. With a little bit of a wait there was still a fun waist high line out there. Glassy w/light offshores. I probably should have ridden the LB but I went with the Flashback Fish instead and still got lots of rides. Great way to start the week!

Indian River was super fun this morning just after sunrise. Consistently waist high with some larger chest high sets rolling through. Complete glass too. Saw a few logs dropped into some screamers that took em damn near quarter mile down the beach from the jetty.

Looking to get back out this evening after work! Who needs coffee?

Surfed out... and feeling most awesome...

Between yesterday and today, I'm totally fatigued. Yesterday was fun in the AM, and only got better as the tide dropped throughout the afternoon and into the evening. This morning was still fun, and EMPTY. Yesterday was totally packed... but plenty of waves for all to enjoy. Gonna rest tomorrow, and surf my brains out again on Wednesday. I'm off all week!

Checked Second Beach and ended up logging about 1:30. Really small, and not that good, but there were a few lines if you were quick on your feet.

But that water was absolutely filthy. I have never seen the seaweed as bad as it was today. Simply disgusting. And there are all these little shrimps in it, so you'd get flushed and all these shrimps would get stuck in your wetsuit and start biting you. I felt like I had fleas.

If you could have made that water clear and blue, and maybe brought out the sun, I could have stayed out there all day. As it was, I just couldn't take that ick any longer.

Fun again this morning at first light... just me and a local buddy at first. Trading waves all morning. Super fun like the Sunday night. Glassy and long peeling rides... chest high. Lifeguard Ken and his crew swam out a bit later and were body surfing a few- priceless summer mornings with all those guys! Classic!
