Good times today in the water with friends and family. Small, but clean and fun. Looking forward to LARGE. Should thin it out a bit.
Broke my longboard last week so going kayaking with brother. His birthday present to me. I turned 62 yesterday. Less surfing but more running lately. Hope to run Norfolk half marathon with sons in Nov.
62?? Pffttt....you are still in diapers...... You can now collect Social Security....don't wait until they go broke. So I went out this morning, water was nice and warm, waves waist to chest (occasional); had some great waves, then went to the gym once all the herd began to show up. Today will end the infestation of out of staters coming to surf here so they "can be seen surfing".
Yup.....I like going to the beach then even if flat. The sense of sudden desolation is inspiring. Nobody there........
Agreed. I was pleasantly surprised walking up to the break with chest to head high barrels. Surfed my brains out yesterday. Stoked. Even had my bae collect a few shots.
Nice Pics Kanman- looks like some fun waves!!! Must have been at the best break around- Belmar! btw your not who I thought you were! I don't know if we ever surfed together...
Thanks mr. b! Next time I think it's you I'm out there with I'll give you a holler. Always lingering around your neck of da hoods.
Might I suggest for all: that we shall all come up with some kind of secret SI code name to call each other out when we suspect surfing in the midts of another Swellinfo.com member. Might I suggest, in the spirit of Barry, code name : moron
Sunday had some fun little waves for me & our regular Sunday Beach crew. Breakfast on the beach @ 9:30, Lunch, Roast Pig on the beach for Dinner & Dessert wrapped up the evening. Offshore winds all day & fun little A-Frames as well.
This is Sunday minus a few families, but our beach crew & kids every Sunday on the drive on beach weather permitting for years.
There are only 2 of us adults that ride the waves & the kids will play around inside. You can see in the pics how not crowded it is. We take up a 100 yards of the beach & never had to worry about anyone else but us. You have to have a year round drive on tag, which eliminates the crowd just showing up. Everyone else Sunday on Labor day weekend had to fight for a parking spot, spot on the beach & crowds in the water. We parked on the beach, ate & surfed all day.
I meant to reply to this a few days ago but got sidetracked. I am glad I did get up to the secret inlet on Saturday. Depending on how things play out with Irma in the week ahead it could be my last surf sesh for some time. We'll see. Hard to believe I hadn't been up since my birthday in June. I thought I would have been up several times in three months. I guess I've been able to satisfy myself with the small bits of wind choppe we've received here this summer. Yeah, it was a bit crowded even first thing. And the forecast was over-called. And the seaweed was just awful on the inside. Sharing waves again with some of the cool folks that I've gotten to know there over the years was worth it though. But the best part was as I was paddling over to one of the ladies to ask if Betty was expected to come, I looked toward the beach and there she was wading into the surf with her board unassisted. Cool. She paddled out and began catching waves right away. I was so happy for her. I couldn't help noticing that the Roxy logo on her rashie is somewhat similar to the Superman and Supergirl logo. Betty didn't stay all that long. She is aware of her limitations. She told me she was gonna be going and we said our see-ya-laters. She then paddled for the next wave and took off on a long left while me and her gang hooted her on. Yeah, there goes Supergirl. Suite.
