You're welcome, it's a good place with good people worth helping. How's this work for bringing back demented memories from that senile brain of yours
Today was fun. High tide, cleanish, thigh to waist. The beauty about my bar as of late is that even at high tide, it stands up and has a wall. It'll just break closer to sand/rocks. So needless to say i had fun. A bit sectioney but i kinda like that sometimes. Id rather drop in, pump, then hit a close out section than get a slow peeler. Got some really bad news while in the water. Iv mentioned a group of older LBs on here a bunch. Im friendly with them all. But one in particular is a role model of mine. A real inspiration. Guy surfs great, never uses his age as an excuse and surfs the biggest and coldest days like he was a young buck. Always stoked. Always. Hooting and hollering all the time. I got tons of stories about him. Just a real great guy and someone i call a friend. Hell, we've been surfing together for over a decade now. Well i found out he passed away. Terrible car accident. It's a sad day. Been pretty depressed since hearing this news. But in an attempt to stay positive, iv reflected on those 10 plus years of memories iv had sharing waves with the guy. Lots of laughs and good times. Won't be the same without hearing his hooting out there, but I'm happy for the memories. RIP friend
Genuinely sorry for that loss man, and you’ve caught the most important part of that particular wave: you were blessed enough to have known a guy like that - they make things better, including ourselves. Mahalo to your wave buddy
He is still hooting and hollering Bassmon. Keep his vibe alive. It’s never easy losing a friend but you said it...memories. Cherish them as they are invaluable! Peace to you and your crew...
Chunky but funky...dropping tide and wind finally laid down...sunset sesh into the night. Very consistent.
this morning provided thi to rare waist at washout. rare chest bomber came in, but everybody was too far in to get on it. prolly about 5 of us spread out several blocks. no sideshore, drift this time. lotta lefts with long lines. took out the 7'2" hog molly fish, def on its last days with all the riding i put on that beast. i don't think the couple guys wanted me to catch any more waves, had like one cheek out the whole time. guess i skinnied up for the summer. dropped those boartshorts off at goodwille on the way to work
Solid chest - head waves this morning, conditions were clean with a slight texture from the light NW breeze. I rode the 6’4” Flashback Fish for the first time in over a month, so glad I didn’t need the LB again today. It started slow with the deep outgoing high tide but before I had to run off to work it started to fire and I got a few rides. My last wave being the biggest and longest wave I saw in 90 minutes. It was a backside right that took me from the outside bar all the way to the inside in knee deep water and I walked off...
Best way to finish a session - and the beach nerds think your the coolest thing since sliced bread and zippers
Hey bassmon, It’s truly hard to lose a friend; seems so impossible when it happens. The brain grasps it, the heart does not; the heart still searches for the one who passed on, and I am not sure the heart really grasps that he is gone forever. I am so sorry for your loss.
That’s how they live on Miss Betty - great reply btw. True measure of a person is what they leave behind.
Hey gang, just some FYI that’s probably already out - if there’s no surf or your just jonsing for some of that vibe, YouTube “norwell9” and check out his three videos. Crazy good editing and some jaw dropping surfing. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and then maybe drink a soda
good compromise this morning...not the size we had over the weekend, but light offshores and glassy conditions this morning. I dont think this swell had anything to do with Chris....just leftover windswell from the NE winds we had over the weekend. Fun sesh. Rode a stretch quad.
Hoping to continue the streak today and surf yet againe for several days in a row... sometimes double sessions. But no. Just too small. Maybe tomorrow. Today I took a swim with the rays. Those things are so cool.
That’s my perfect fun wave! Jealousy over here I like em like that for fun rep sessions and maybe two foot higher for work/challenge sessions
It was chest to shoulder high and pumping today, but the AIDS in my elbow wouldn't let me try it. After some sand reconne, I've hatched a plan to catch some rare SoFL July waves tomorrow.
