Yah mon. It’s an easy place to get to & the surf is consistent, excellent restaurants & it’s not Tamarindo & hopefully nvr will be. Just a comfortable place to surf trek.
I leave the house at 0430 for the 0600 DCA-MIA-LIR flights & I’m surfing tropical ocean waves by 3pm.

Yep, my wife has been making fun of me because I'm acting like I'm on a surf trip ever since we got here

Years ago I used this style lock on my truck while surfing... pretty sure it just corroded after a while but sprayed some wd40 or some other type of water protector / lube and let it soak- and it continued to work for a long time. im pretty sure the combo part that moved was made of copper or some such material. But continual applications of wd40 helped

    Happy Turkey Day

    I’m the turkey it seems.

My last wave of the morning, nice right took the angled takeoff boomed down, bottom turn, headed back up for bang off the lip — left knee, lead knee, something popped in my knee & I dropped to the board not that I wanted to I had to the pain was instantaneous & barkin.’

Unable to put weight on it. Took me 20 mins to hobble from beach to hotel, couple hundred yards.

Doc here in CR says I tore my ACL.
Doc put me on painkillers & knee brace & crutches.

I put me on Tanqueray & tonics.

Will see my guy in DC next week.
    MRI will tell the tale.

Unable to put weight on it.
Airport fun on crutches coming up on Saturday.

I’ll admit it, I am pretty down

    What a year.

Man I will say that really sucks the root, pure and simple. BUT...it could have happened the first day you got wet.
Soak up that paradise for another day and then get back and get that knee squared away. Not your first rodeo I’d guess. I was just talking about your trip with my wife not twenty minutes before I read this -

Ahh man, there's no way to sugar coat it, that sucks. Mr. B is right though, at least it happened towards the end of the trip. Sucks regardless though. Iv been dealing with pain in my back hip/leg since the end of summer and it's had me in a funk. Although i can still surf, i feel your pain. Getting injured is no fun.

I hope it's not as bad as the CR doc diagnosed. Be well man

I get why it bothers him as much as it is, beyond just really sucking. You work towards goals and get pushed back by life and then when you get to that point of achieving your goal, your “too late” :
Either too old, too broken, too poor...
I’m all three. BUT, like Yank and many others here, I say F that. If im gonna break, I’m gonna break trying -

I’m betting ACL sprain. No impact, just torsional extension/out of alignment pinch. Four weeks of therapy and done. It’s a coldazz winter coming so maybe some off season leg work to keep those old joints working correctly. You got this Yank.

I think you have had worse happen to you. It sucks worse when away, granted that.
Relax, get home and get healed.

semi glass off before dark today in OCMD. Black Friday always seems to come through with something ridable. angled NE swell 3 feet 7 seconds = mushy waist high lefts that lined up occasionally and were perfect for the mini simmons. water is in the low 50 and air temps in the mid 30s. Its starting to really feel like winter surfing, crowd wise and temp wise. I was surprised i paddled out given the cold and small conditions, but glad i did once i got a few lefts.
