who here has been surfing this week?

sun mon and tues were best with chest to head. very soft but looooong walls and insane rides. The waves just let you do anything (except get barrelled). The rest of the week we surfed the hermosa breaks in the morning and esterillos with the incoming tide. At low tide it was dead flat and mid it was chest high and fun.

 

the waves looked good yesterday and still shaping up well today. All hungover, was hoping it'd wear out for the afternoon meetup but it just loomed and loomed. very cold n nasty all wknd too. Car wouldn't start this wknd, probably a dead beat alternator. Jag also is in repair. Not much luck lately, i can't wait for this year to end. Hope some of you guys scored tho, again another wknd coming with rain in the forecast and waves. crossing my fingerz that i find the time and get the chance to ride some, been a while it seems

Always amazes me when i see shapes like that and sizes like that surfed. And how well they work.
Boards have come a LONG way

 

I can't wrap my head around shapes like that. Not hating - its above/outside my knowledge.

Does the yellow make it a faster board??

 

They work under similar principals as the fish... compact the volume so everything functional is essentially under your feet.

Plus big bottom vee for quick turning rail to rail

 

Yup... deep vee bottom, with our without channels... helps keep wide boards loose. There are other alternatives to deep vee bottoms to keep wide boards from feeling tracky, but vee helps add a bit of rail rocker in the tail, too. Another plus for short, flat boarts.

 

hopefully this wknd, my guess is sat afternoon but too early to tell really on the wind n direction. didn't realize til later that was sharkbanz, thought for a min you was on beach house arrest

 

past 5 days in san diego have been fire! and it looks like the next 5 are gonna be just as fun!
