Drove south on Monday and got kinda skunked. Chest high-ish but just a warbaly funky mess. I definitely chose the wrong spot because I saw other cams and pics which looked pretty good. Bummer. Win some lose some.

Got out yesterday on the simmons and got some fun fast running lefts in the waist to stomach hi range. Very glassy. All pumping and trim work. Too fast to work in turns, but a good time for sure.

We've been in this weird pattern of flat, flat, flat, flat, epic on Sunday, flat, flat, flat, flat, epic on Sunday and so on. I bet it's rained every weekend for 3 months straight but at least it's given us 1 good day of waves a week. So when I saw the Outer Banks surf report for yesterday I couldn't make that strike mission quick enough. The winds were forecasted to be offshore all day so that gave me plenty of time first thing in the morning to check numerous spots, a few that I've never seen or been to before. I carried my camera with me to a half dozen of them and got a few good shots. On a side note...on one of the trails I took (I believe it was my very first trail at first light) I saw my first ever wolf in the wild (in North Carolina). I was too shocked to take a photo but it was super cool and got me even more fired up for the day. I finally settled on a spot and probably surfed for close to three hours before the winds got screwy. I got 2 legit cover ups and a few good turns in. The water temp was 46 which is a good bit colder than what I've been surfing but I stayed pretty warm until the end when my feet started getting numb. Overall, glad I made the trip and it'll hold me off until Sunday, which again looks epic.

    Where surfboards go to die

Where I ended up surfing. This wave broke maybe 25 feet from shore.

Nah, this was a straight up wolf. I've seen many fox before and this guy was much bigger. This is weird too (and it's been a long while since I've seen him) but we had a guy who lived at our beach that had a wolf as a pet. I can't remember if he was part wolf, or a rescue or what but he walked the beach with him and they favored. The Outer Banks is wild. Just in the past year I've seen 4 bears around that area. Next time you guys are making a road trip stop off at Pungo Lake and you're guaranteed to see some crazy wildlife.

There are a ton of bear throughout NE NC.

If you saw a wolf on Pea Island (where you on Pea Island...pictures look as if), that would be a rare and fortunate episode. Likely a coyote or even a hybrid red/coyote. If it was actually a Red Wolf, that is awesome.

Sounds like you ride in Via route 64. I do most of my deer hunting near that corridor a bit NW of Pungo Lake. That whole area through the Aligator reserve etc is great and full of wildlife. So many bear. We have seen a hybrid red coyote but I have not had the opportunity to see a wolf in the wild.

Big swell coming, and Monday looks to be *the* day, but the high will be 8 degrees. If I don't paddle out, will I lose my rep as 'core'? What would Jesus do?

I found a spot that was working on the high - mid outgoing tide and I took the LB for a spin this morning. I paddled out before sunrise, semi glass conditions with a light NW wind, waves were waist - chest and inconsistent, but when the sets came they were fun. I grabbed a good 5-6 waves before I had to go to work. Some swooping turns and walking to the nose and back, fun rides for sure.

Been out of the water for a bit. Long flat spell then we get waves but i can't make it due to work. Sort of sucks because our sand bars have been absolute crap all winter.

Well today i took a look. Not really expecting a wave but hoping. Winds were light offshore. Figured if it's bigger than forecasted i want to be there to catch it. Well it was tiny. But there's a silver lining. Dredging is almost done and things look ALOT better. Hard to tell with a small wave like today but from what i can tell things look good. Tomorrow's looking like it'll have some size but winds look crazy strong. Hoping i can find a window to try these new bars out. Either way im stoked even though i didn't get wet. The bars need this face lift, bad.
