Washout this past Saturday was a bit disorganized. not even 10am, my buddy n i were pretty convinced we were about to grab a beer. decided to check a different spot, a bit more covered from the winds. sure enough, waist hi peelers all along. also, nobody was out there. Took out the LBs and easily caught 20 or so waves each in our hour span. We were talking earlier about how great is to score with nobody out in the water, and didn't imagine it happening thereafter. Both of us had some nice drops n turns throughout. Last wave had him going to the right and backside while i went left n frontside straight for the jetty rocks n turning last sec to ride out a bit to my right. it was a great way to cap off the session and get my saturday right off to a good start

Yea... yesterday after the wind switch it got pretty dang goode. Current was a killer, but good waves.

Been a pretty consistent couple of weeks 'round here.

Fully agree with that assessment. Actually described it to a buddy the next day as "felt like a fun medium size day during hurricane season, but with a fraction as many people." Perfect swell angle where I was at, super glassy, downright comfortable thanks to the higher air temps, incredible light just before sunset. Had to be fully moved out of my house by the end of the day Thursday, so only got out long enough to get two waves, and wasn't in quite the right spot on either, but still stoked.

Missed yesterday, but got a slightly-funner-than expected knee+ session this morning (not good, but not completely flat like I thought when I heard the wind at 530). Between the howling wind and the minimal size I'd have skipped it under normal circumstances, but had to go as it's most likely my last session as a NJ resident (this time at least... I keep moving away and then coming back), based on the current forecast for this week. Got 5 or 6 little cruisers in a half hour, no one else anywhere around for fairly obvious reasons. But I had fun. Thursday as soon as I'm out of work I'm driving one-way to downtown Boston. Technically I already live there... we are pretty much fully moved in to our apartment now, and closed on our house here last Friday. Now it's just me down here solo, finishing out the last week of work here while crashing with parents/friends.

I'm bummed to leave such a logistically favorable situation for regular surfing (east coast consistency issues notwithstanding), but pretty stoked about exploring the New England coastline. And no, I won't be changing my name here anytime soon... in my mind I'm always in Jersey, no matter where I go. Which is to say, I am down for a bench-off anytime, any place. And if I'm running late for said bench-off, I will run your ass off the road if I have to.

Wow nice job guys! Good stories and well told. Stand out has to be"in my mind I'm always in Jersey, no matter where I go.". That normally would be pretty easy to make a joke out of but not today.

Had a dawn session to get the last of last weeks swell. A good hike in about a mile to get there. The sun was coming up and the birds were out as I got to the cliff to look over some real nice glassy line peeling off just right. Was seeing multiple good set ups skirting the cliff edge to get to a way down. Got to the bottom and found out they were just about waist high. Man do they always look way bigger from above. I'm always fooled. The higher tide made places that would usually just be a mine field of boulders and not worth it, doable. Rotated between two separate empty peaks and it took a while to catch my fill. Rode the fish again. A Long board might have been a better pick. Could've got in earlier and had a longer ride. With the fish it was just more lively through the one section that really stood up. Besides I wasn't into hiking the noserider in and down a muddy cliff and then back up and out again. My back hurts just thinking about it.

Glad to see folks getting theirs. I'm ready for another round.

Sorry to see you go, brother. But I'm sure you'll get your share of great days up north. And consider Nova Scotia for road trips.

occasional knee high with 40mph offshoures... While standing on the boardwalk I almost got my head cut off by a large piece of flashing that flew off the roof of one of the new condos that are under construction.

Wind on the shore here in NH is 40-45 MPH steady; gust are at 55MPH.
The surfers that went out this morning are now arriving in Liberia, Africa--hope they can speak swahili...

Dude, this happened to me at work. Swear it was somthing out of a cartoon. I was dieing.

Me and a co worker go up on the roof of a ritzy country club. Checking out an exhaust fan. Co worker takes the cover off and lays it on the roof. Picture a big round baking pan. Im just staring off into space. We're slow and i was just hanging out. Anyway, about a minute goes by when i say to myself "you know what, i should probably put my foot on the cover to keep it from blowing away. Surprised it hasn't flew away yet". So as i pick my foot up to essentially stand "in" it i ever so slightly bumped it, lifting it up enough to catch the wind and the thing FREAKING TOOOOK OFF. So i chase after it, jogging, it looks like it's about to roll back on its side....boom another blast of wind and its off again. Man it went across the entire roof.... up hill, with me full on sprinting behind it. And it's just getting distance. It traveled across the entire roof, flew off into the parking lot, just missed a car, flew across the entire parking lot, across the street, and down the road..... my coworker knew it flew away but figured i caught it. Until he sees me running back across the roof laughing and yelling oh shit oh shit, ran off the roof, was gone for a few minutes, then came back with a crumbled piece of metal that used to be the cover.

I swear this thing was going at least 30 mph. Big flying saucer. It traveled so far so fast. Country clubs aren't small. Damn wind

It's a nice feeling listening to wind like that having just sold your house three days ago and realizing for the first time in a few years you don't have to worry about shingles coming off the roof, branches/trees falling on the house, etc... (none of those things every actually happened, but I'm a natural worrier).

That's nuts... My buddy is FDNY in NYC and he was telling me stories... He said about 1/2 his calls are construction related. Whether something falls off a building and fuks up someone walking on the street or guys getting injured on the job.
Some of the stories were gnarly and disgusting.

Sorry, just saw your message. Right now you could get away with trunks if you wanted to, you'd be a little chilly but you would manage just fine if you keep moving. I wore a spring suite last time out. If the sun is out next time out I'll probably go with the short john suite or just trunks and a rash guard, maybe some undershorts for a little extra warmth on my balls. We did have some legit cold weather this winter so the full 3/2 was warranted then but not as much now. There however will be another cold spell or two before it's over and 3/2's will be worn, followed by trunks. Gotta love FL man.

Yeah man, i got lucky that thing didn't hit anyone. Iv had things get caught in the wind and take off but yesterday was diffrent. That thing was moving with a purpose. Im not the type of guy whos afraid of heights or ladders, but i refuse to use my extension ladder if i feel it's too windy. Iv had a few close calls, luckily never got seriously injured, but seen a guy break his back. Customers can complain all they want. It's not fun being 30ft up when a gust of wind comes and your ladder starts shifting. It can always wait.

Last Saturday the local horse rescue group pulled off a very well sponsored event to raise money for the rescue horsies - Polo On The Beach. It was really cool, all the horses were rescued and rehabed and they used a soccer ball so it wouldn't get stuck in the sand. The riders were international polo dudes.

My wife and her friends were all over it, so I hauled chairs and umbrellas and coolers and stuff from a ways away, due to the crowds - we have a permitted spot a bit to the south so I dropped her and some of the stuff and parked and hauled the rest.

The wind blew up over night, on shore, (forecast was flat) so I brought a fish, and once I got them all set up, and after my buddies ridiculed me for going the wrong way, away from the jetty where it was pumping, I walked back down the beach and did a drift and got a bunch of crappy choppy waist high slop waveletts, then ditched the boart and watched the poloponys and drank some booze and then went body surfing in the outgoing full moon suck out on the outside bar in the guarded area.

Earlier, I drifted into it when I had the boart, and did a grab rail backside in 2' mush on my last stand up wave, so in case I fell I wouldn't take out any tourist kids, but I didn't fall, and felt kind of foolish for grabbing the rail, but better safe than sorry when it comes to kids.

I ate an Italian sub before I paddled out, it kept tasting great all day lol.

The surf sucked but the novelty was cool. Life is goode.
