Good to hear many of you getting some as the water warms...Even my oldest son who moved to Seattle last Jan. He was at Westport (WA) last weekend. It was his first time surfing in the Pacific NW. I've been doing much more running than surfing - even managed to run a half marathon last month. But the surf bug is biting me.
Never cleaned up yesterday... was hoping for a little glass-off before dusk, but it just didn't happen. This morning was small and crumbly. No bueno.
Scored chest high crumbly lines at the pier yesterday afternoon for two hours by myself and 1 friend. Had my fish and had a blast. Surfed dp this morning - waist to chest and glassy. Got a little coverup once or twice, but it was just super rippable. Crowd was insane though. There had to be at least 75 people in the water this morning. At least it was spread out over 8 blocks or so. This time of year I'm always surprised when people start coming out of the woodwork when the water's warm, especially after having gotten used to minimal crowds at top spots during the winter. Caught a bunch of fun waves regardless, and looks like we'll have waves all week.
Swell is starting to stretch out a bit. Looks like the mid(ish)period kicked in. Evening sesh and Tomorrow DP on Tap! I have been enjoying my 6”2 quad set up and gonna stick to it this eve but I think I’m going to go thruster in the AM if the particular beach break is grinding some glassy chunks. I love lows that pop off mid Atlantic like this... Get’cha some!!!!!
Depends where im working. At the power plants everything gets tagged out. Got to jump through hoops for minor repairs but it's safe. This job was diffrent. We were ripping out old equipment. I tested for power two or three times as i always do. Redundancy equals safety. Well suddenly there was power as im cutting it all out. It really bothers me actually because it could of been worse, and i want to know exactly what happened so i could keep it from happening again. A co-worker said he saw guys flipping breakers for some reason, just minutes before i got hit. But no one owned up. I was not myself for a few days. Scary experience. Iv been ticked before but this was a whole other level of ouch.
All honestly, could be not bad. Could also be really bad. Like i said i been hit before. This was 10 times worse. I was working under the assumption that no one would be flipping breakers so i don't really recall what i was touching. But i do know that this one went through me completly. Heavy chest and breathing for a few hours. Mentally just not there. It wasn't fun. Didn't feel right for about 2 days. That being said i got zapped before and had it just be a little tickle.
Bass is correct... It could eff you up bad, but it's the amperage that kills you more than the voltage.
Yeah I don’t know the difference, couldn’t find the breaker and had to work on it hot...very carefully lol. Made me jump whenever the wires touched
late this afternoon on Delmarva. longer period swell filtering in making some sets really stand up outside. Water seemed to have cooled off a bit. If it was close to 60 a few days ago it was more like 55 today. 3/2 no boots was a chilly deal for me after an hour. Got out of the water and shot a few pics of friends around 6 p.m.
These were the average sets today... head high and super clean and stayed open forever with a good offshore wind. Then there were the outside sets every 15 minutes that went way bigger - and these were small from what was there this morning. And I went straight from work, took my RB fish that’s not a fish, and paddled into and caught the biggest, cleanest waves I’ve ever had success with and I did it all right; steep steep drops without any bobble, smooth bottom turn and then rode the wide open faces, pumped past the closeout sections back into the wave and got several inside sections. I only got 7 waves, but each one was pure quality and probably my best consistent surfing ever. I’d have stayed and caught three times that but I got blown out with all the paddling around with side off winds. Pure stoke
Finally got out yesterday at The Wall. Went out just at high tide, which made a bit challenging getting in and out of water. Had few head highs, and am finally back to it. Now I have health issues to deal with soon, so I best get my self in good shape as I will be out of tilt for a while.
Sounds like you'll have to really dedicate yourself to surfing as much as possible. Good luck, and have fun!
No surf for The Kidde for the next two weeks, doing some work in Kenai Alaska. Probably check the coast this weekend, plan on checking the surf in Homer while I’m here. I’ll post up some pics if there’s anything worth bragging about
