Well surf wasn't as promised but I managed . it was only thigh high and mushy if breaking at all and it only got deeper and more rolling. I did see some dolphins up close and lots of pelicans gliding off the waves. I wore my spring suit and after I caught a shower and had dinner with friends and strummed the guitar for an hour.
made a run out Saturday morning. several of us hit the north washout as the crowds were in on the south side. wasn't breaking like we were hoping, despite the longer boards we we're carrying. had a handful before we gave up on a cold, cloudy day. just a way to stretch out the surfing bones for something better in the future
Surfed Saturday at Stacks and Sunday at the Campgrounds. Waist to chest+ and offshore both days. Took out Green Lightening on Saturday (5'8" Quad Fish). She's a slippery one. Super fun both days. Still more swell on the way. We were actually picking up some SSW swell on Sunday, hence the decision to hit up the Campgrounds.
I concur. Had more size and better shape than i was expecting. Enough so I soldiered over 3 hours with a dime sized hole in my wetsuit.
Going to give it a go at first light tomorrow. Hopefully the wind and swell direction don't muck it up.
Didn't have a chance to get out last night, but did see it. Hard offshores, lots of current, but just freight training down the line. Guys I saw out were struggling a bit on takeoff, but if you got into the right one... wow. Got on it early this morning 'till about 11. Started out pretty fun but got small quick. Blow-out tide seemed like low tide at high tide... then it just got lower. Really small and draining when I left. Pulled into a lot of little barrels and got a ton of views... but only one true tuberide with a clean exit. The others were either punch through the curtain, or Hawaiian pullout.
I got out around the same time as you. In early and out around 11:30. Spot I was at was still working pretty decent when I got out. Low, but not too low, and still some chest high sets squeezing in. Lost some size from earlier, but I would have kept at it if my arms would have let me. Three good offshore weekend swells in a row. I hope this keeps up!
