Got a nice shot of swell in the water right now. Running waist to head high. They fvcked up my break at the Powerplant with sand pumping from the lagoon. It's been about 2 weeks and the sand is starting it get sucked out and it's getting back to normal. Today was super fun with moderate offshores. Still a little wonky getting backwash even at mid to low tide, but it's manageable. Should be about the same for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Still wearing that 4/3. No booties, no gloves, no hood, no problem. Love you guys. Mean it.
waited all wknd for it to develop, never did. not a great forecast, maybe waves the wknd after next. Had to get sumtin, unclutter my head from work. Waited till 4 hi tide, took the LB tho i kinda knew i needed sumtin to turn a bit quicker like a leaner funshape. Either ways, made dew with what i had which was 20 or so waist hi's. Textured, slight semi chop but it was open and for the taking. Some ppl came thru around 5, almost all LBs. I'm glad i made the move, it was pretty badly needed after the hi expectation of the big bump predicted on all sarfing sites
Good read from you guys. Its been solid chest with lucky overhead set waves. 4 straight days breaking on all tides. Been up and down the Brevard co line hitting several spots . Spring is here! Oh..I've been eating too much food
We've been having a fun little run of swell here in Brevard county fl. Nothing big but for me it was good enough every day for 4 days. Light winds and the swell lined up with the sand bars. 1 spot was better than I remember and the corp just pumped sand there so I was surprised. Anyway. Water 70 wind light ..air 84
Couple of shots of my son and his friends from this afternoon. Waves were wonky. Pictures make it look a lot better than it really was.
This flat spell has been brutal but gave me a chance to catch up on some ding repair. 9 separate dings on one of my longboards it was time. Also did some experimental repairs on my catch surf foam board. Just a heads up that Flex Seal will melt EPS foam. Oops! Ended up using some leftover caulk from a house project to fill the "ding" and sealed it in with flex seal. Came out pretty nice. I already got my money's worth out of the foamy so we'll see how she holds up. Ate a fried calzone last night. Pretty awesome. It's been 2.5 weeks since my last surf but it feels like a decade.
CJ - has the water up your way been super clear last few weeks? Looks like it in those pics. In Delaware and Maryland, the water color/clarity got amazing about three weeks ago and has been since.
Visibility has been excellent (relatively speaking) up here for about 8 weeks. Best viz of the year is always in the spring. Water's still cold, though... mid 40's. Another few degrees and the fish will be moving into the surf zone. Like surf, fishing/spearfishing is a "be there when it's good or miss out" endeavor.
Vis was awesome here yesterday. I was sitting in 8 feet of water and could make out sand dollars on the bottom. Crystal clear.
Got some glassy solid waist high surf before the big storm rolled in today. Not too many people out which surprised me. Good people in the water today
Long day yesterday and didn't have time to do anything with my pictures. Here is a cell phone picture of my laptop screen when I pulled the pictures off of the camera.
yea, we got the goods yesterday. Surfed Washout for several hours in the morning. Switched it up from 6'9 loehr to 6'4 alchemist on sessions. Was chest hi, rare shoulder providing plenty of lines. Got crowded sure, but was able to swim out of those situations most of the time. It felt great not to wear booties, first time this year - minus trip down to florida. Wind picked up on it quick at 10am. Didn't bother with the an evening sess when it looked meh. Packed the LB this morning, bout waist hi soft and sideshore. Nothing to write bout this AM but forecast is bleek so had to gettem when i could
What's been happening everybody? Quiet here so I'm going to fill up the space with a little surftalk. Still having a nice little run of swell down here and Cocoa Beach Brevard County Florida. It's only about waist-high but certainly enough juice to get you going today's been an object from rest of the week. Anyway read my 7 Foot has a Thruster today and and it comes in a five fin setup just for some clarity. Surf for about 2 hours and now I'm headed home to start putting in an irrigation system.
