Surfed Alabama once when I was in the service. Caught clean chest high waves that were a mile long. I was told that it was not the norm. My sheet was not tossed in the water. Looks like DP sat. morning here. Might have to suite up for the first time this year.
Thanks for your service Lazy and Dos Waterb has it right with the summers, but you forgot the beach crowds of mid westerners blows goats and parking is worse, so pre-dawn is the way to go I grew up in Md and work took me to the vineyard in Mass for a while, that water is cold. It does get cold here but luckily I've never had more then a 3/2 for about 8 weeks I don't know how you guys handle it in Cali, what with your year round weather and consistent surf, wait, never minde. Ride on
...so I decide to drive up a bit north. I got sleepy, pull off at a rest stop and jumped in the back of my (covered) pickup for a nap. Woke up in the middle of the night, freezing (got down to about 33 deg). Put on more clothes and it was just bearable. Woke up at 6 am for dawn patrol and realized I locked my keys in the cab. AAA puts me through some twilight zone bureaucratic runaround that didn't get a rep there until 4 hours later!!...and I was only 20 miles from a major city!!! Anyway, jammed to the surf spot and, as I figured, it had already gotten way more windy than I'm comfortable with. Moped around for an hour, took a couple pics, ate lunch and then decided to just paddle out anyhow. It was a lot bumpier than it looked from the bluffs and the sideshore winds were not doing my out of shape ass any favors. I caught a couple sketchy waves and bailed, but just getting wet washed all that crappy morning away.
Sebastian was super fun today, easy paddle out and 2-3-4 foot wedges scattered up and down the beach. Surfed for a solid 4 hours and caught about 50 waves, time for a beer.
'Twas indeed. It was the Radder one you met today. Always great to see you and the gals. Different fort. South central Florida. Or north south Florida. Sounds about how we had it a liitle ways south. My wave count was a bit lower tho. But, yeah, super fun. Winds weren't bad. Not too crowded and an easy vibe. Got cleaner with the incoming tide. Warm water, nice waves, good company. Tight leg rope strings and my stuff is dry. Don't get much mo betta. Life is good. I feel sorry for people that don't surf.
amen, tomorrow should be fun and maybe you guys will get a bit more swell with the NE direction. Have fun brotha
Flurida, today was amazingly beautiful! 2-3-5' glassy long interval. Just so fun! Hope your beach was the same
Indeed! was down at the inlet and actually got some barrels. Wind stayed calm/offshore most of the morning. very heavy and dumping on a shallow sandbar but I'll take it. Glad we scored cuz it's looking like big and choppy for a good while now.
+1 Got some great rides today. My last wave was wave of the day for me, head high, clean face, long line, took it to the beach for a walk off. Water still very warm. Air getting slightly chilly early morning.
South shore MA was fun enough on a long board. Def. more choppy than forecast but it had its moments.
Ya mon! Some times it's great being a Florida surfer. Long glassy shoulder high peaky lines today. Life is good!
o berry Just cuz you don't surf doesn't mean that's the case for the rest of us. j/k you cranky old fart. That sucks. Good to be prepared though. I did get you two yesterday and two more today if that helps any. I viewed the cam with some jealousy this morning. Beautiful clean liners. Good stuff. Yeah, a week or so of power choppe in store. Better than nothing. At least there'll be something to surf for our traditional Thanksgiving morning sesh. Excellent! Always end the sesh with a good wave. WotD is even better. I was tired from Saturday's surf shenanigans and didn't really want to drive for surf today. So I met my buddy at a local spot for some small but clean SE waves. Not common here. Barely rideable at first, the swell grew as the tide dropped. Ended up with some waist high liners on the sets for an hour or so. Just us two out sharing waves and smiles. Surf was quickly dying by noon. Right place right time. Go before you know. Made it to the car just before a torrential downpour so my stuff is still dry. Suite!
