I agree- some of the funniest surf since those south swells we had in December. Nice and semi heavy off shore winds- just right! Chest to head hi on the set. Nice and cold to keep everyone outta the water- only 3 friends out! Peeling!! It was a little inconsistent - but wore my new wetsuite and was super warm! Rode a modern style 6ft single fin that I haven't ridden in years- forgot how much I loved that board! stoked!
Friday was BIG at south **r***! Northside was just out of control with nobody out, but southside had shape. A couple of feet overhead with DOH++ sets sweeping in just down the beach. Very peaky. I got denied on a paddleout when a set swept around the jetty and crushed me. You had to time it right. A handful of guys out who eventually gave up. Stormy. Looong drops down steep throwing faces. Got smooshed more than I got rides. Gave up after a pretty short session. More exciting than fun. Today was small and clean. Offshores and waist-high peelers at my crummy lunchtime spot. Long period swell forerunners just starting to show. Forecast is for DOH by tomorrow with occasional 15 footers. Will try northside **r*** again tomorrow morning. Fun fun fun. Turning out to be a good winter!
Hutchinson Island(Walton Rocks and Stuart Rocks) Jupiter Island (Blowing Rocks), Singer Island (Ocean Reef Park), Gulfstream (just north of Delray Beach),and Boca Raton (Jap Rock) all have limestone rock bottom and outcroppings, along with offshore patch reef. Some really nice set ups on north swell. Jupiter Island and Singer Island are very sharky and have great shredder locals so if you can't surf overhead waves in 2 feet of water over rock bottom surrounded by sharks and aggro rasta boyz surfers ,disregard this post (not you trevo, just calling out any wanna be radkooks).
You forgot my favorite south florida spot: Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge...that beach is full of outside reefs! Yeah, Walton Rocks is good as well and so far off the beaten track.
Spooky water! That place is so cool. Indian mounds right off the beach in the mangroves north of Pecks Lake, underwater semi hard marl forest bottom in spots (off Stumps), a mysto reef way way outside that is a legit tow in spot on big H swell days, and some really nice empty lineups just off the parking lot. But lots of big lemon and bull sharks patrol the murky brown water. I sometimes get the heebie jeebies out there, especially when all you see is surf casters and pelicans, and all you smell is fish.
Tried to surf for the third consecutive time... and did not get out. Sometimes everything seems to conspire against me. Maybe I'm trying too hard...
Northside delivered the goods this AM. Solid long-period OH++ swell rolling in. Some lulls, but also lots of big ones. Got a couple of classic **r*** lefts. One big exhibition drop in front of the 5 guys who were out. When it breaks over the harbor breakwater, 9 times out of 10 if you start paddling for the outside, you'll hit it just perfect to pick up one of the bomb sets. I love it when it gets big and clean enough to get up that crazy speed. Digging turns with just the corner of your board touching the water, and you're just flying, cutbacks where even a booger can huck big spray. Fun stuff. The jetty rip was perfect, almost a dry-hair paddlout despite the size. When I caught long lefts back to the jetty, I pretty much floated back into the lineup. When I went right or got shut down, it was a lot of duckdiving. Not many barrels, and a nice relaxing solid session overall. It was blowing up, up north. DOH+. I lucked out that **r*** was such nice conditions. Easy peasy.
Couldn't get to the beach ...until... too late (already getting dark)... blown out (decent a few hours ago)... too deep/not breaking at dead high tide... too sideshore/closing out with the wrong swell angle... etc, etc, etc. Been driving around with boards and suites in the truck for more than a week. This morning I broke down and took everything out. Sometimes I just have to give up and just let it happen... instead of trying to make it happen. If you know what I mean...
45*F. Yesterday was nice; brief morning session, then ran off for appointment. Today...not so nice; I didn't go.
right on i heard florida had some, i just didnt know anything bout the inbetween states. Never really thought about those barrier islands but it makes sense there some hidden gems.
Oh Barry...Barry Bottomfeeder already exposed you for being a fraud on this one Tell me lies tell me sweet little lies Fumunda Cudda Oh isn't it moronic
I thought they where the same person... I'm so mixed up. Barry's actually Emass but he's not Barry. Could we start another thread that would list who everyone else's other "secrete" accounts are. I guess there could really be about 5 real persons on here with like 10 different accounts.
