Who uses "base coat" before wax?

I use base, I switched over to Levi's/MaTuna's a couple of years ago. Seems to be softer than petro-chemical based waxes and as it gets a little older it's prone to flaking off, if I don't use a basecoat. I really like the stuff, tastes good too.

I got kicked a case of Munky wax by a local shop last year, still haven't gone through it. Not as messy as dream cream, punt or FU Wax; but it's still a mess. Seems to work better in warm water (summer 66-68°) than now in winter when the water's cooler (60° thereabouts).

Munkey sucks, IMO. It didn't hold up well in the SC summer conditions. Melted easily and was a complete mess. I had that **** in my leg hair for weeks. It did feel grippy when it actually stayed on the board, but it isn't worth the mess.

I use it if i have, does seem to help in keeping the bumps on...

tried the Munkey, it's ok...i like Bubble Gum's version of the FU wax a lot better, but agree...it's better for the summer months.

i use it for colder temp waxes but not for warm or tropical temp
