How about a thread where people can post about which local shapers they like? Include name of shaper and state...

    Northern NJ Coastline:

    Tom Eadon
    Davey Sky
    Rick Malwitz
    Dave Grimes

There are more, but those come to mind right away.

    South Eastern North Carolina

Kenny Briel / Shawn O'donnell - Savage Surfboards. Kenny is a legend, and I would put Shawn's glassing up against any glass shop in the country.

Jimmy Keith - I got a custom about 6 years ago that I still ride and love. I think his label is Prone to Paddle now?

i think the idea is behind this thread is to include the state. pretty sure we had threads previously mention shapers. i believe the state matters cuz the shapers makes boards conducive for that area. like in sc, we ain't making a bunch of gun boards. yall best edit or this thread is pretty meh

I like a lot of the GW shapes but every one I've ever seen has been beat up with pressure dents to the point where the stringer is a long ridge throughout the board. Get an extra layer of glass on the deck if you buy one of his boards.

I didn't put a locale on my post because I assume if my location says "Carolina Beach" and the question is local shapers, my answer would be a shaper in the Carolina, Kure, Wrightsville area...

Good suggestion... I added a location to my earlier post.

I'd be more specific that just state. I know in NJ the waves here, up North, are very different from the waves down south.

My experience with Mike Daniel / Kirk Brasington at Coil Industries (Brevard County, FL) has been good on both boarts I got from them. They kinda have a niche so if you're not into the new tech it may not be for you but I find their boards work very well and for a less than average surfer who needs all the help he can get, they really helped improve my surfing. The boarts are high performance, tough as nails, and look great. Not perfect but I'm satisfied and will probably buy another one or two.

I had my HPLB shaped by Greg Geiselman at Orion (New Smyrna / Edgewater, FL) It's a well crafted boart and does everything I want in a LB. It's in good shape despite lots of mileage. I will be ordering another one day from him. Talented guy.

Seconded on Greg Geiselman in FL, his 6'6" hybrid swallow tail step up fish works like magic in everything from chest to almost DOH.

Matt Kechle in Sebastian FL has a great line of high performance and fun shapes.

Frog in PBCounty FL still does a couple, narrow rad boards here and there for friends, along with hydrofoils with straps for tow ins.

Smitty at Nomad in Briny Breezes FL still does wonderful retro shapes and tints, between drug addled binges.

RIP Jeff "Surge" Surgener (Ocean Reef, FL), made the most rad hplb shapes aka: "The Stiletto", and a mean shortboard. Great shaper, and artist. Rhino-Tuff for Life brother!

    Tom Eadon (North New Jersey)
    Jon Ashton (MD)
    Scott Busbey (Outer Banks NC)

You can't go wrong with any of these three.

I sold Tom Mahady my old Rockwell 653 Planer a few months ago via craigslist. He is a true hand shaper and a very nice gentleman to have dealt with. His boards look top quality

Don't say his name 3 times or he will be summoned to the forum. I'm warning you.

The BLEF has been reduced (to pieces), reused (as a honey scooper), and recycled (in China).
