Brah!! welcome to Dirty Jersey! There are many fine establishments along with Italian food over here in Belmar, NJ... not to mention the artificial reef... plus the locals are really really cool, they actually don't mind if you drop in on them!

Damn, I mean, VB can't be that bad. I know there aren't a whole lot of options there, but most of South Carolina Georgia and even parts of Southern NC suffers from the same problems that you guys have, minus the cold water... But we have the Gaskin Banks and a substantial shelf off of our coast. We get decent juice of the S and SE swells. We really only have blockage from the steep north from OBX etc, but all in all its the shelves that make us suffer the most. They haven't had much recent dredging down here, they have just been working on boat channels, so there are a few spots that we have that have sand....

Yes, folly/washout is a 2 hours drive north and Jax is a drive 2 hours south, but i work a ton and have a wife and young daughter, so 2 hours drives on a day off do me no good.

So, I feel your pain, you gotta deal with where you live. With your home beach....

Growing up with OC MD as my beach, i really forgot over all these years how good the waves are up there for east coast standards. I was spoiled out west obviously, but aside from the cold water, OC MD and JERZ make me tear up when I see their post-swell footage compared to ours.... Every dog has its day... I think I have had 2 barrels down here in the entire year after Sandy, and thats not because I havent been in the water, its because even on a chest to head high day, these waves just flop over on themselves... You couldn't fit a squirrel in most of these barrels.

no matter how hard a try im never small enough to get inside lol if it even gets close enough ill just get hit by the lip. you got to find a good double up and the sand will shift away in a few week..then the find is gone.

Yeah, I was out on a longboard a month or so ago and the wind was offshore. it was about waist to chest. I found a little pocket, dug my arm in the face and squatted down in a ball as small as I could. Got a little cover up. This older guy was paddling back out and started laughing his ass off and cheering. He was dying. Said he had never seen such a tiny barrel. It was pretty funny.

    Do not underestimate the Belmar.

Isn't that the location of the new homeless shelter? I hear its so warm and you're free from the elements. The barrel just goes on and on! You could literally light your pipe during a heavy Nor'Easter with no problems! The Fire Marshall has stated there is no capacity limit. I think they based that book The Giver on it

I think Edgar Casey knew this place would start getting flat(ter). That's why he built his enlightenment center there.

I hate crowds. When I go to the OBX, I find empty breaks. So if you showed up, I'd be glad. That cuts the chance of me being a meal by 50%.
I was surfing a river mouth in CR. Just a bud and me. Hadn't seen anyone on the way there or on the beach. we were way out. A giant set came, I turned to go, and there was a guy sitting right in front of me. It pissed me off. So instead of confrontation, I paddled away. my bud went over and was talking to the intruder. he told me the guy was from VB. Typical. A 1000 miles of empty, and he's sitting where I'm dropping.
