I came here for medical advise and life direction Stayed because the other members were funny. Not so much anymore Where's metard. He was the best thing about this place!
This is probably my favorite, thus far, but I do not believe many upon this site will understand it. Lance, your wit never fails to amaze me, and such requires a high IQ.
Came here because Heritage Surf Shop was using SI as their forcaste page. Then, I got involved in the NOYA thread. This is the only forum or any type of social media that I do. No Facebook or twitters, or Instagram or any of that sh1t. I do know how to send texts and emails so I got that going for me.
I'm like an old Harley Davidson. I got a lot of miles and I may be leaking some oil, but I'm still running.
I am waiting for SI to rise from the ashes. Originally was here for sand reconne info, leashe tying tips, religion, and keeping the stoke alive during the work week. The humor was outstanding , the racism and homophobia was a turn off, but no one is perfect.
Originally came for surf forecasts. Lurked the forum for fun. Joined to get in on some conversations. Don't do any social media or other forums either. But now i stick around. Forums humorous and there's some good surf related conversations that i enjoy at times. But i think i stay mostly for the good guys. Meeting new people in real life. Iv met with a few members, will meet with more, and have gotten good info from guys about spots/food/things to do when traveling to other states on the EC for quick weekend getaway surf trips. It's these encounters and insight that really makes the forum worthwhile for me
I started coming here by checking the forecast, didn't even look at the forum for a while. Then about the time I got really committed (been at it 20yrs) to SURFING, I started reading the forum to see what like minded people were saying. I figured, anybody here must be a surfer, right? Wrong. But I digress. Like Chavez, I don't have any other social media, this is it for me. I'm so stoked on SURFING that I have a desire to talk about it all the time. My wife, family, and most friends don't surf so they don't get it, like a surfer does. That's why I'm here. It's about surfing. The rest is just a byproduct.
Forecasts, surf info, discussions with surf-minded folks, and of course twisted entertainment. Also helps keep the stoke alive during those cold, gray winter days.
Why am I here... I've "always" been here, and old habits die hard. Like building boards, talking surf is an extension of my surfing life.
