I originally came here for the surf forecasts. I think my first post in the forum was a question in a Carver thread, which I eventually purchased one, to cope with flat spells and specifically a lengthy onshore blown out period that November.

I blindly found this site to forecast EC surf during a 6-month work detail to Washington DC. Didn't get involved in the forums until I returned home. Stayed with SI because it always gave me the most accurate forecast in a very easy to decipher format. Eventually became friendly with many longtime posters.

Like others here, I do this as entertainment as I have no Facebook or any other popular social media.

I think we all have a certain level of privacy we like to keep here...otherwise, we'd all be putting our lives on the internet for the world to see. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I still have a difficult time wrapping my head around why people want the world to know everything about them.

OTOH, if I had a Facebook page, I'd be hooking up constantly with girls from the past. I don't think the wife would be too stoked, as she has yet to give me the green light on a threesome.
