I had turned a good friend here in SoCal on to SI about 2 years ago. I had no idea at the time that Micah had sold it, left, come back and all the other things that have transpired. My friend told me today that the app wasn't working and was stuck in June, so I dropped by to see what's up. Seems to be a rather sad state of affairs now. This is pretty common though. I've been through the rise and fall of no less than 5 online communities and the theme is the same. Numbers go up, moderation is necessary, it's overbearing to the regulars to the point that it's no longer fun and then the withering on the vine starts to set in.

well it is just a few of us but the sense of entitlement has fallen away so ima stay and enjoy the small group left here.

 

Yeah, I was on that forum, but wasn't active. I think I might have only had a couple of posts there. I kind of fell away from the surfing forums for a while. I started running to get in shape for 'cane season and fell in love with running, so that's where I focused. Then, due to a very interesting series of events, I found myself living at the beach in Southern California, so running took a back seat to surfing. It's amazing how quickly you can pick it up when you can surf nearly every day. I put the boogie down and bought a longboard and the rest is history. Now I have more boards than pairs of running shoes.

 

Sounds like a great adventure you've been on.. I agree. I have more surf boards than shoes as Well and surfing is a big part of my life. I'm selling my house in Sebastian and moving into a trailer in cocoa beach where I'm 1 block from a nice break. Its farther to get to work but closer for surf

 

I'm a half hour from Black's to the south and Trestles to the north. Maybe one day when I'm good enough, I'll visit them.

 

I'm an old head and I'm still around. I popped in to see if the site was working again, seems it is not. After they "upgraded" the site awhile back, it was never the same. That and the moderators were being a bunch of pussies.
