some posters here are clueless, Wayne is the epitome of hypocritical troll poster, claims to love Jesus and peace, and straight up antagonizes people with his ridiculousness. WWJD. He certainly wouldnt troll forums and antagonize people.....the medium is the message and in this case its annoying as fock to read the insane stonage lies that come from this guys mouth so wayne please be more like jesus and 1) revert to stoneage: ditch the computer, the van, petroleum based surfboard products, etc and start herding goats on merrit island, might be some old orange groves available 2) dont speak unless spoken too, jesus only preached to those that wanted to hear it, (dont cast pearls before swine, et al) 3) realize not everybody wants stone age goat herder myths that state hellfire for the unbelievers, people might want rational ways based on logic and science to rule their lives as opposed to myths from people who didnt understand the earths revolves the sun, or how deodorant and magnifying glasses work
A lot of stoneage going on here .. speaking of stones ".. May he who is without sin cast the first stone .." There are ancient things that have timeless truths.
No worries .. none of us are .. each has his own proclivities .. I believe realizing that fosters grace and humility .. but I digress as well ..
I come here for surf forecasts, wave/travel/gear discussions, and amusement (I admit) and not to learn about Jesus or any other religion. However, I just don't understand why people are so freaked out by Wayne (assuming he's not really a pedophile). I'm thinking that it's possible that I've missed some critical thread where Wayne has "straight up antagonized" someone or proclaimed his love for minors or something equally heinous. Can someone please be kind enough to re-post what you consider to be Wayne's greatest assaults or at least direct me to those threads so that I might be able to understand where you guys are coming from? If it's only proselytizing, it just doesn't rank on my list of things to get all bent out of shape about. Help me out here...
It basically started when he asked for surfboards to be donated so that he can use them to entice young kids to learn to surf so he can try to 'convert' them to religion. That's what offended so many people.
How you doing capecodcdog? Oh how surfing and Jesus go together. Cape I have spoken to you personally a couple of times. Also to the many who do not make themselves out to be surfing Christ Followers....that is your choice. I have spoken and communicated to several of you guys. I am not trolling for attention...trust me. To be put in the position I am in is an honor that I want no credit for. As for the JESUS, just following what Gods Word tells me. You know the "Great Commission".
Serious questing Wayne...if God told you to sacrifice a child (ya know, the whole Abraham/Issac thingy), would you do it? Not being a smart alek, I really want to know what you would do.
Yeah, we talk about everything else on this site. Drugs. Sex. Politics. Whatever. I don't think religion is off limits, but things really do become strange when anyone start quoting biblical content and sounds like they are preaching. It's okay to speak your beliefs, but that's all I thought Jehova Witness' were the ones who had to recruit. I know you think that it is gods choice for you to spread his message. I get that. But it's clear that you look at yourself as a channel for that. You sound like you want people to follow "you" and follow what "you" do, which happens to be follow jesus. I got no problem with you shedding light on certain subjects and trying to give people inspiration, but using surfing as a way to spread the word to people isn't right. It's deceptive in a lot of ways. I have no problem with Christian surf groups that want to travel together, meet together, surf together and use it as a way to motivate each other and spend time with like minded people.... But luring young people into the ocean with surfboards, only to speak the word of god to them is like cheating. That is border line cult stuff. I mean, what next, you open up a shelter or a soup kitchen, but only feed the kids if they listen to "your" gospel.... If you believe in god, then he gave you surfing. Share it with others. But using surfing, or camping, or youth athletics to infiltrate the youth of america, or the ones who don't follow your belief is not ordinary. What happens when these kids start looking up to you? What happens when they learn that you have been manipulating them... Dunno man. Havent really followed any of Wayne's posts before this thread, but there is certainly the holier than thou stuff going on. It's been like that my whole life. Grew up in a very catholic family. Priests in church can act that way, because people voluntarily go there, only to listen to these men and the gospel... Thats where the preaching should stay... in a church... not in a surf lineup, unless everyone came there for that reason.
Its all too common to hear these hard core followers do nothing but talk. talk about themselves. Talk about what they do. talk about what you should do. talk about how YOU can be a better person. Talk about how they were nothing before they understood god. Talk about why they are the messenger. talk about why Jesus told them that they had to spread the message.... So its all talk about ME, ME, ME, ME, ME, what i do, me, my lifestyle, me, me.... ohhh, but I owe it all to god, and he told me to tell YOU all about it.
It was because I was proclaimed to be the new messiah, and the powers that be am skeert. My congregation was growing until the lock down. Only in 'Merka. Yew Assay! You Esse!
it's very easy as a pastafarian to "be about it", all you have to do is drink beer & like pirates & strippers (combine them into stripping pirates & you've got yourself a helluva good time!)
Exactly. People are looking for the genuine. I think it was St. Francis of Assisi said, (paraphrasing) "Proclaim the Good News at all times, and when necessary, use words." Proclaiming via words is simple. A bumper sticker can do that. Living it is not so easy. Hypocrisy is a huge stumbling block, and the more we talk, the easier it is to trip over our words.
Yeah, I think that it is very inspiring, when you know a kind, genuine person who has a happy and positive existence. One day you just say, hey man, you are always so happy, so content, and always so kind no matter what is going on, how the heck do you live that way and what is it that makes you so happy.... At that point, if that person were to explain how their faith was the reason. I would probably listen to every word that have to say.... To hear it from someone from the heart is way different than when someone is on their soap box spitting the same old rhetoric. Cause religion can get buried in a lot of politics. But regardless of what god you believe in, if your religion, makes you a better MAN or a better PERSON, than your faith is good. If you are a good person and you are giving within your community and to the world, and you live without hate and bigotry and everything that is tied so heavily to some faiths, then you should wait for someone to ask you, and then you tell them.... Cause SEEING is believing.... I did some work with a church down in Savannah recently. This church makes it's members submit their W2s at the end of the year, to verify that they are submitting the agreed upon percentage of income to the church. And this same guy gets up in front of hundreds of people every week and tells them how to live an honest, god fearing life. And these guys, especially in the south, take all the money, drive fancy cars, wear fancy clothes and then get up in front of these people every week and TELL THEM how they need to live. How to follow him. How to listen to him.
ccdog - you seem like a man that would be very cool to sit around a campfire with and discuss the finer points of religion and philosophy. MIS - come over to Marduk's camp! 2 for 1 deal today on salvations. And you get a really cool beer coozie.
