Sounds like fun, can a non-believer tag along? Marduk says he's cool with it, he's not a jealous god. He might even stop by, if that's cool.

Ahhh, got it. Something akin to the conversion van rolling slowly through the neighborhood and offering "free candy."

So Wayne, why not just advertise it as a "Christian Surf Get Together", rather trying to lure folks under false pretenses? It seems like that's the main objection. I'm sure you'd still get plenty of folks who are interested. They'll likely be more receptive to HONESTY than if you spring "salvation" on them at what they thought was a surf-oriented event.

On a related note, I was once selling a surfboard on C-list and had a guy ask to test drive it before buying. It was all a ruse for him to get me in the water and start preaching.

It came to a pretty quick halt when I asked him about God's policy on our military killing folks overseas... "Doesn't that violate one of those Commandment thingys?"

His reply, and I sh@t you not, was that God looks at the INTENT of the person doing the killing and judges accordingly... and that if a soldier feels that he is protecting his family (halfway around the world in the desert/jungle) and not killing out of malice and hatred, he is justified and not committing a sin. WTF, I say? This is one of those massively hypocritical and illogical one-way streets that always sinks the ultra-right wing fanatics.

I'd have much more respect if he had answered, "Yeh, it's really wrong. We're human, imperfect, and can do better. We need to keep working at it."

funny thing about religious people are they act like they read the bible, and live opposite.thou shalt not judge, hey fuk u.bible said adam and eve and they say it doesn't say adam and steve.well where does it say molest ur neighbors 7yr old son?they act superior and think they are better than everyone else, but at the end of the day we are all the same.u should be smart not to follow fairy tales.u know in a library, the bible is listed under the fiction section.i was religious for yrs,but after being around those kinds of people and seeing how they interact I decided I did not belong to their fairy club.the guy who turned me onto religion who was a very nice guy I met in county,he never said what he did or why hes in there, but I saw his face on the front page of the tribune one day and it said serial rapist sentenced to 85 years.the guy was in his 40s,so that's basically life, and when u read the details on what he would do,it made me sick to my stomach.

joe swanson says to the dolphin, not all Asians are bad drivers...yea well not every muslim is a terrorist, but u know, they are...same to christiantiy

Right on. This is a problem Christians struggle with. The faith asserts that that God exists and has all the answers, however, that does not imply that humans who believe in Him do. The humble approach you suggest Philo is real and far better.

It doesn't mean that we humans are without any answers from the mind of the divine.

But, as the saying goes, the more I know, the more I know that I don't know.

Doubt it. This is a surf forum and I outreach to the surfing world. We do not charge a penny for anything. It is all free. As for misleading people......everything we advertise has JESUS in it. From the links you posted you can see my personal page and ministry/church page.

I think it is very misleading. At what point did the many members of the surf community contact you and your group asking for help?

I mean, you outreach? To surfers in Florida? Shouldn't you be traveling to distant lands, spreading the word of god while you feed the hungry, while you give to the poor? I don't think that a bunch of middle class children hitting the beach with their $500 surf boards are really looking for preachers.

I am just saying, go to Cocoa Beach, in July, when there is a swell. Post up on the beach with the largest sign you can find that reads "Ask me about Jesus".... With the thousands of people that will see you and your sign that day, let me know how many people come up to you and strike up a conversation...

I envision parents grabbing on to their children a little tighter as they walk by, huddling them together and making sure they don't step foot in your general direction. No for some creepy reason, but simply because if you are TRUTHFUL about your intentions, people will avoid you at all costs.

Its like, if those young people on their bikes wore shirts that read "I am going to talk to you about GOD", we would all look through the peep hole as you knocked and then tip toe away in the hopes that you thought no one was home....

Is what it is brother. Give your time and effort to people that need it. To people that want it.

You are just a dude that loves surfing, and loves Jesus. You don't have to mix the two. Just do your Jesus thing. Do your surfing thing.

But unless you met Jesus face to face and he told you to spread the word of god through fiberglass boards and beach recreation, I think you might be exploiting the whole message to make it fit into your own life.
