Bubonicphoniks I know its just an avatar but man... I keep thinking of you as the "cheesburger" of Jersey. "Look out for bubonicphoniks because he's not looking out for you...." Fair play, man. At the very least, thought provoking. If you showed up at my break (which of course, to your point, isn't really mine) I'd share waves and maybe even a cold Miller High Life out of the cooler. Assuming, of course, that you play by the rules and understand that its not your home court, and you are 'playing away'.
bubonics you're saying that people are missing the point of this thread. maybe true, maybe not. i don't really know what you were thinking...but with a title like that it makes me think you are missing the point of this forum. i come here when i need a break from my desk job and want to relax for a few minutes and think about surfing and read discussions about surfing. i check my local forecast, say a prayer to the wave gods, and look for interesting discussions. if i need specific information i might start a thread. i don't come on here and expect to learn about a new secret spot. in fact, people sharing spots is practically the only thing that i'm actually surprised to see on this forum. nicaraguan guerilla warfare, sharting in wetsuits and 15 year olds sharing their pr itinerary i expect. spot sharing not so much (i thought for obvious reasons). if you want to get all deep and metaphysical and try to improve the world, go volunteer at a soup kitchen and talk politics with some homeless people.
Im pretty sure the point of this forum is for open discussion. What you take from it will vary by the individual. I believe more could be taken from this forum for all if people feel more comfortable on here and in this case were talking about people feeling comfortable talking about what beach they surfed at. I am just contributing my thoughts. Manisses cheers same brother.
Secret Spots are like Unicorns they not exist . Summer time there are crowds in the fall through spring there isn't so make the best of what time and where you go. Most Noobs to surfing dont understand the ocean yet and just go whenever . So in all likely chances your not gonna run into them . Summer time go before the crowds or after the guards and summer crowds leave for the day. Its funny that Im away for over three years and topics never change
I disagree. There are plenty of 'secret' spots (maybe 'unsurfed' is a better word). And what do you mean by 'nailed'? It's one thing to look at a map. It's something else entirely to actually get there and be there when a spot is working. Alaska has a longer coastline than all of the other US states combined. You could surf a different spot here every day for the rest of your life (and never see another person, let alone another surfer). Of course, you need access to a 30' boat and/or a bush plane...
