I was looking for an insightful forum with members who had some knowledge to share and could possibly answer a few of my amateurish questions. On this forum I got what I was looking for and then some. A few intelligent folks and lot's of folks that like to have fun with it.

    What keeps you here ?

Boredom... need for creative outlet... sometimes a genuine desire to help someone...

Most importantly: What do y'all think about tomorrow?

I work a desk job such that I can finish all my work in the first and last hour of my day. Leaving seven hours to do basically nothing

Was thinking about this yesterday, turns out I've learned a lot by talking to youse guys on here. Believe it or not when people drop the "act" and are genuine there are some really helpful nuggets being thrown around by people who've been there done that. There is a good balance between humor and shop talk. I personally have been able to keep myself plugged in to surfing although I currently live 2hrs from the E. Coast., so that's what keeps me here, oh and having a job that keeps me in front of a computer all day.

    PJB, of course

.... and a bunch of other out-of-the-box folks, just being who they are. Makes me wish I was still a creative, free thinker like them. But now I'm just another cog in the wheel, workin' for The Man.

Yes 4/3 with surf cap for dawn patrol. Then 30 minutes later switch to a 3/2 back zip. 20 minutes later unzip it, but keep it on. An hour later, go for the trunks with your favorite sand blocking underwear and long sleeve rash guard. By 9 am you should be ready for the loose rash guard tee but watch those nips. Tape em up. Naked by lunch. Keep the tape on there's kids around.

Same as others mentioned...desk job in front of a computer, talk shop, the banter, and the fact that this forum/internet in general allows us to communicate w/ like-minded people who share an overall love for and pull towards waves and the ocean...regular folk just don't get that. Aside form the fact that this place often has me laughing my a$$ off, and I'm obviously gonna come to the site to check the forecast. I could go on and on, but I think there's a nice balance b/t helpful convo and outright ball busting.

*case in point, see above post, just some funny a$$ stuff.

Besides a few employees and a couple of friends outside of work that surf most people don't have the same connection to the ocean. My girls (6 and 8) don't have the vocabulary to speak around the waves/surf session. And the wife tries but is basically afraid of the water. So Swellinfo is like minded conversation if posting or just lurking.

Or someone place to laugh at the amazingness of the human brain to come up with some crazy crap on the internet.

Man, this was a great answer. So if any of youse little wetsuit inquisitors ever even think a bad thought aboot me you just remember that Swellinfo.com's most honorable participant, LBCrew, thinks I'm the Tom Curren of surf predictin' website forums.......

LBCrew don't look with envy at creative, free thinkers. They are all mentally tortured and actually live painful existences. I mean, if you look at all of the greats in all genres of the arts they were all drunk and high all the time..........battling the tormented thoughts within their heads.

Contrary to what some may think, I am not an internet forum devotee(since 2003 this is the third one I have put time into, and I've been dormant since Intervention circa 2005, where I was King Addict). I like this one because of the site's lay-out. Even the colors are soothing and conducive to wetsuit questions and feces jokes. Compared to other forums I really, really like the lay-out...the design of this site. Kudos to whoever came up with it.

Also, believe or not, the people on here are the finest representation of internet forum citizens one can find, at least for an interesting topic. Yeah, I'm sure you'll find some phony, mannerly BS on sites dealing with soft or important(health) topics. But for something as real and honest as surfing this is the cat's pajamas. Pat yourselves on the back.

Plus, this place has an east coast bias which I like. No matter how much Archy and Mr. Brewengineer fight they'll always have that east coast bond going and would defend each other from any west coast attacks. We understand each other here. The east coast surf community is a special one. Really, it is. I mean our waves suck but we got a thang going on that no where else has. Well, the Great Lakes people might be a bit happier and goofier, hence bonded, but they need to out of necessity.

I work with a bunch of stiffs, and this takes me back to sitting around after a session and b.s.ing with my buds. Lots of laughs and a few nuggets of info. Good East Coast bias. In the immortal words of the Bouncing Souls: "East Coast F*** YOU!"

actually, this was the only forum that would accept my email address.

I think there's more beginners on this forum than others, but there's occasionally some good info from experienced members. I also like there's less unnecessary agro vibe on here...some other forums have too many wannabe punk/anarchists that will sh*t talk just for the sake of sounding counter-culture (surfing too much can make you crazy, but there's a limit)

    So awesome.

That tape is key, as are the sand blockers. Don't want no "debris" getting harbored in there.
