I rest my case. with the exception of enjoytheslide and icyrusphotography. you guys are all a bunch of gay hopeless rim jobs.
There will be posers in any sport, but while it is fun to bash on them you have to sort out those that are truly trying to learn and enjoy the sport for what it is and not some by-product and nurture them along rather than try to push them out of it altogether. Me well I just started surfing (or trying to) and I didn't know a "grom" is a grommet, but I do know what a grommet is in terms of several different definitions. If that makes me any less of an enthusiast just because I am new to the sport and don't know the jargon or all the theory then maybe I need to rethink my ideas of getting into surfing... On the other hand if it just makes you a twat because you want to make fun of or point out the ignorance of others that don't know as much as you then I might suggest you come out to one of the nationally recognized racetracks around the country and allow me to educate you on how that feels.

People that are surfing just to carry their board around and wear boardshorts should be chased out of the sport. However, we all have to start out somewhere.
