you guys think its doable to make some sort of surfing "game" for the wii? or any sort of surfing simulator for your home?
Dear "darippah", Did you recently have your brain surgically removed? Are you serious? Was your dad a brick and your mom a heap of jello?
Think about the nintendo game pad... if anyone of you can remember back then. The "surf pad" could determine where the pressure of your feet is on the pad. Could be cool?
now a days.. its not a question of "is it possible".. of course its very possible. The real question is, is it profitable. Honestly, surfing may be more main stream now a days, but its still no where near the popularity needed to make a video game... a good video game.. Transworld surf for xbox was kinda sweet, but I dont think they made ANY money off of it.. The demands just not there. And frankly, unless you surf, surfing video games are boring as ****. Most people I've seen trying to play Transworld surf just didn't understand the dynamics of surfing and how to gain speed and do maneuvers and couldn't enjoy the game.
I hope they come out with it!!! Then I can sell my surfboards, wetsuits, and all the other gear I have, think of the money I'll save. I won't have to stay in shape, no chance of drowning in big waves, and everyone will be equal at the break. No expensive surf trips, I can just bond with my buds in the living room. ARE YOU F**CKING SERIOUS?? ITS NO WONDER WE'RE ALL IN THE CRAPPER NOWADAYS
NIN is actually working on a few sports games which have skiing and snowboarding, not sure about the surfing, but it can be done, theres already a few out for "older" systems.
all you haters gotta relax a bit. I understand that making a game for the wii would not be a good idea, but im thinking that using the wii's technology of motion, its possible to make a surfing simulator where your actualy moving up and down the wave (obviously not left and right) and the board can move around in any direction so you would really feel like your surfing
As ashamed as I now feel...I have also thought of the idea for the wii. I'll bet my life that there is not one surfer who doesn't mind surf while sitting on the beach or watching surf flicks (aka. surf porn). So why not add a little simulation to mind surfing. They can make some decent animated waves nowadays, or maybe use some footage from a helmet or board cam to incorporate real waves. Think about, could be somthing to do when it's flat.
I don't understand why all you window lickers are giving this guy **** for this. It would be cool if they did. I guess all you soul surfers don't think video games are chill brahhhhh. Quit eating paint chips and get off your high horse.
the crazy thing is i actually had a dream last night about a surfing video game. it was kind of like the game skate for xbox and playstation. it may not be for wii. but you would be on a fictional island similar to north shore or tahiti. and you could cruise around and check the different surf breaks to see which one is better. maybe start off at a wave like wikiki than progress up to slabs and reef breaks like pipe or chopes. than maybe you could go pro and tour the other breaks around the world or something. its pretty ironic this post came up. i think there is a market for a surf game out there, just might not be good for us surfers with the lineups as crowded as they are. think of every kid that plays the game then wanting to start surfing.
"think of every kid that plays the game then wanting to start surfing." i think any surf game would be realy boring unless you surf....
Some of you guys are a joke....... #1 If they made this game that doesn't mean more people are going to start surfing, look at all the Maden/TonyHawk/ext... a few might, but not a crazy amount #2 wouldn't having a influx of people help our industry??? oh wait unless your against the growth of our sport #3 you act like line up in oc is hardcore like we have amazing wave it does get good don't get me wrong, but if you are worried about a VIDEO GAME causing a prob. for you out in the water you might want to rethink your choice of location and move to a place that has good waves all year round with plenty of open room so people don't interfere at your chances of going pro.
