Bastante caliente...son pequenas pero picosas. Still, the things I have seen from illegal aliens would make the heads spin of almost all U.S. Citizens. It gets pretty old when you hear people claim that illegals don't have access to ACA, welfare, food stamps or college aid. That is all a bunch of krapp that your paid politicos want you to believe so that you can sleep better at night, and continue to vote for them. The facts are: they DO. The amount of ID fraud among illegals is staggering. They easily and quickly get access to both fraudulent (fake; see "chueco") or authentic ("imposter") immigration documents and Social Security cards, enabling them to get the full gamut of entitlements. Many of them have easy access to U.S. Birth Certificates (belonging to others), automatically making them U.S. citizens...and again, the entitlements that follow. What's worse: Hundreds of thousands of these parasites have SEVERAL documents, which they use to go around to different offices in their cities, counties, and even states...and use them to illegally gather up SEVERAL entitlements, amounting to thousands of dollars of illicitly-gained entitlements for ONE SINGLE ILLEGAL. Many of which live with other illegals, many of whom have the same scams going. Then, to top it off, they go into H&R Block at the end of the year, claim they have no jobs, and claim anywhere from 1 to 10 kids...for which they receive thousands upon thousands of dollars under the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). I believe it is currently $3000 per child. I could go on and on about the drug dealing, the gang-related crime, and all the fistfights I've been in from these guys trying to get on top of me. I'm still alive, got all my teeth, and surfing regularly near the Canadian border. A few of my brothers have been killed over the years by these people. Kinda hard to swallow. Oh, and the majority of them are NOT "Central Americans", as someone stated earlier. That's what the media is trying to make Americans believe. Yes, there are some "hard working" ones that only want to better their lives. But the things I've seen and done over the last 20 years would shock most Americans. Nothing personal, Baddy. You've always been cool in my book. I just think that unless somebody has actually "been there, done that"...then they are only parroting what's being fed to them by Politicos and the Media. And I'm here to tell you...they are both LYING.
i am sorry you have had such bad experiences with immigrants. that said, i don't recall advocating in favor of illegal immigration as you seem to infer. our experiences are different (thank you hanna for your defense). yours from the inside our country; mine from outside. my point early on was that the immigration issue IS A MESS with corporate $$ dictating the status quo. i view the issue as unfixable due to the ability of $$ to get what it wants out of our gov. the crimes you have suffered - i guess - are a business as usual aspect of a crooked system. i feel the current administration will be unable to fix this; like the one before and the one before and the one...
The "fraud" trope is an interesting one. It seems to me that the bulk of migrants to the U.S. are very visibly and obviously involved in productive and necessary labor. Despite this, they are denied access to the full benefits of "American-ness." We resolve this bit of cognitive dissonance by imagining that migrants are engaged in an invisible conspiracy to defraud honest Americans, thereby proving that, in spite of outward appearances, this group is not deserving. It is no coincidence that these same charges are often leveled against Black people, who, despite citizenship, are also not accorded full American status. Of course, it seems likely that fraud on the scale some people describe would create large amounts of evidence. Many people would be certainly be caught. But by all official accounts, healthcare, SNAP, and welfare fraud are relatively rare (food stamp income reporting, for example, is said to be around 97% accurate). This is easily explained, however, because what we are dealing with is essentially a conspiracy, and to the conspiracy theorist lack of proof becomes proof in itself. The truth is hidden by a cabal of dishonest politicians and media types. Unsubstantiated anecdotal evidence takes on greater weight in this context. It is worth noting that secret conspiracies have been alleged among many historic immigrant groups to the United States, the southern European "anarchist" of the early 20th century and the Irish "papist" being just two examples. There are other things happening here that are certainly also worthy of discussion-- structural changes to the American economy that have eliminated many traditionally white, stable, middle-class jobs in the manufacturing sector, austerity projects that have reduced many of the traditional benefits of citizenship, social movements that have weakened white males' absolute dominance...
Yes, but more like "extreme liberal sociology major". Always looking for excuses to blame the honkies......
sbx, why do all the illeagal immigrants that live and drive in NJ have North Carolina, Michigan, and Pennsylvania plates? The ones with NJ plates have anchor babies btw. Why have my wages and employability gone down over the years, despite getting better at what I do? Why is my trade predominantly comprised of illeagal immigrants now? How is an illeagal immigrant able to drive a nice gas guzzling truck, support his stay at home wife, and four kids on $10 an hour? Do you think kidrock is making that sh!t up? Why? I have to work with these people, and go figure, I talk to them. They have access to just about any ficticious doccument they need, and none of them go by their real name. Conspiracy is a term indicative with bs, and what I've experienced is very real, unless I'm in The Matrix.
Different states have different licensing and registration requirements? The people you work with support themselves the same way you do, that was my point. They might spend less on surfing, though. If you don't think you make enough, you should talk to your boss about it.
Can we all just admit that we need people to do the work that the new lazy millennials aren't willing to do because they feel too entitled to perform work that they deem to low for them. Give most kids under 25yrs a hammer and they have no idea what to do with it. I say if we have people willing to work for their money, let them. Our ship would be completely under water if it wasn't for immigrants willing to perform manual labor.
i think the movie was 'outbreak'....with the 50M high stainless steel walls with motion sensor activated 50 cal. machine guns. dougs' complaints are painfully valid; even without him weighing in i have watched numerous friends business's tank or flatline as their income is successfully siphoned away. one of my pals stressed it so hard he is now pushing up daisies....at only 54 years of age.
Honk!! Honk!! If you did teach yourself, I am duly impressed!! I have always argued that the best education a person gets is done AFTER we leave school, at any level.
I was a biology major, then Marine biology masters--never worked in marine biology-- I learned that counting guppies in a dinghy 2 miles from shore was no way to earn a living.
I am my boss. I have to bid jobs for dirt, just to get them, and I still regularly get underbid by Illeagals. It's honestly hard to figure out how they feasibly bid so low. It was infinitely easier for me to make $25-35 an hour, 15 years ago. Now it's about impossible, despite inflation. If I ask for reasonable pay on a particular job, I don't get the job. I have to work for their rate if I want to come close to staying busy all year. Illeagals work for about half the money citizens do, while packing themselves 6 dudes deep in a 2 bedroom apartment. Should I do that to keep surfing? Or, should I just quit surfing? Would you do that sbx? Is it really that simple, or are you failing to assimilate with the current hardship of blue collar workers?
Hey Doug, Are you able to change occupation?/ Area of specialty?? I hate to hear stories like yours because it is EXACTLY what is wrong with our policies today--open borders should not be. And, the problem seems it will worsen. I hope somehow it works out for you in a positive way. Remain flexible to changing your business, maybe even location??
