I'm looking for helpful advice from anyone who has experience in staying in Nicaragua. I've been to over a dozen countries for travel and surf, but not Nica... any insight/recommendations on what lodge or inn to stay at? I got a week to play around with over Christmas and am looking to stay on the cheap as much as possible. Thank you.

Contact James at Nicaragua365.com. We stayed with him a few times. We also rented an old Land Crusier from a guy Johhny in SJDS. He was half the price of the other rental places and the truck was great. I'll see if I can get his contact info

Depends on what your looking for San Juan Del Sur is an awesome town you will have a blast if you stay there. to surf tho u have to get a ride to the beaches like 5 dollars at the surf shop and most hostels. Good breaks around there fun mix of parties and good surf. if u want to surf a lot and just relax popoyo has a good break and cheap food and places to stay
Ild recommend staying south Lake Nicaragua pushes offshore winds all day

I used to own a condo at Iguana, facing out on Playa Colorado. You'll have a blast surfing.

You might want to read the US State Department web page on Nica, just so you understand some of the Nica legal aspects. Very different from here. Specifically, what your responsibilities are if you get into a vehicle accident while in Nica. Not calling it on you; just saying that to know is to be prepared.
