Winter ocean temps

Discussion in 'Mid Atlantic' started by ExtremeSpongerChicks, Jan 28, 2008.

  1. Being this is our first year of winter riding, we were curious about water temps for central NJ (monmouth county). Now the water temps are in the low to mid 40's, what is the typical pattern for water temps for Feb-March-April?

I assume it is similar here on Delmarva, plan on wearing a winter suit through march and gloves through april, atleast. Feb (obviously) and March are some of the coldest months of the year.

usually hovers around the low 40s although it can get into the upper 30s at times. you will be miserably cold until the end of march and potentially mid-april.

It sometimes gets cold where you have to wear your 5mm in early may hopefully switching to a 3mm in mid may. Might be able to spring it if you dont mind...

We were out with just rash gaurds on, so I am hoping the earlier we get upper 50 degree water the better, we're dying to get out of these storm trooper suits!
