Absolutely. New Jermany requires a license and registration for electric bikes! They'll cash in on these after the first three law suites.

The first guy who gets clobbered by one of these will be a millionaire. Just a hunch.....

I'd be laughing my arse off. Unfortunately, the motothing will probably have the dead man's kill switch on it, aka, bonehead owner loss prevention.

Well....hellfire & damnation......saw my first moto board in VB this wknd.

    As predicted: they're here.

I was trying to surf the weak stuff in the North End on Monday morning with a buddy. Every 15 minutes, maybe, something would come through to ride. We both look up & out about 200 yards to where some dude is paddling his board north. He was really flying across the water. My buddy laughs & says, damn, that dude is cookin'!

I'm staring out at the guy & yes, he really was moving - - he was zooming so fast that there was spray coming from the front of his board, like a small boat would make. The guy then took a quick break from moving his arms but the board kept cranking. I called out, that's one of those 5 thousand dollar motorized boards!

That's when the reality smacked us: they're here. They're finally here. And it's only a matter of time before you see them in your lineup, brutha.

Lee the Stud, are you listening ? VB will be changed forever.

It's got a motor. License, registration and insurance please! It's a personal watercraft.

Walden's doing a lot of PR, starting in Hawaii. If he can get positive stuff going there....guess what...

This quote kills me. Pretty much what to expect in your lineup with this 'innovation:'

"...he was joined out in the water with his 69 year old mom who body boarded on some pretty sweet waves with a little Wavejet boost."

    advocating for the devil

hey, it's walden's right to find a product that sells. it's free market enterprise. he realizes the boomers are older and lazier (or just out of shape) and...oh yeah.. richer. municipalities will tax and license them for revenue, and soon the Luddites on manual boards will be in a different subclass, and riding a surfboard without a motor or paddle will become a bit less popular and common.

maybe some good will come from this. maybe surfing will lose its soccer-mom, boomer-youth-reliving luster and soon the beaches will clear for those who wish for bygone days of empty breakers...

    maybe.

    good luck

It will take someone getting hurt before the clown politicians will pass any regs or licensing aspects. In the meantime....move over, surfers, sit & wait for another 40 minutes or more, 'cause granny, and then gramps, and then the 12 year old kid just tiwsted their throttles & took command of that wave you were eyeballing, rode it out & zoomed back out to take priority on the break again for the next anything wave. While you sit.

    Ugly. Very ugly.

hopefully local ordinances will group them with jet ski type garbage and not allow them close enough to the beach to 'surf'. new surfers are a danger but put one on this thing and look the f out

Unfortunetly I dont think the will have to be licenesed, Watercraft under a certain Hp dont need a registration, i dont think the hp it too much with only 20 lbs of thrust. In know in MD its Watercraft less than 16ft and less than 7.6hp dont need to be registered... I dont think those board come anywhere close
