stretch, strengthen, and go out bodyboarding more often and get your muscles use to the action. When you bodyboard, you go from stop to start really quick with your calves, so they are prone to cramping. If your fins are very tight, it will definitely make cramping more likely and also the colder the water the more likely you will cramp as your muscles will be tighter.
With me, it's the feet that cramp when bodyboarding, and stretching and bananas beforehand don't seem to help. I figure it's an age issue, I'm 58. Getting to where the water is shallow enough to stand on my feet is the only thing that helps. Oh, and I tried surfing too. That just gives me a different set of cramps, in the hip flexors from straddling the board.
Funny thing is, during christbull, my car was in the shop, so I had to drive my white work van to the beach...it had windows though, and was full of painting supplies
Thanks for the feedback fellas, I've used this site for years just for wave height but haven't posted much, so I appreciate the insight. I'll probably try the stretching, check out the b12, and try some new fins. I'd absolutely love to try to surf, and it's really my hope to have all 3 of my kids learn to surf, but I live kinda far away, so for any consistency I'd prob have to move closer. My wife wants to move to the beach, but I'm just reluctant because of family and work. Thanks again
Nice, yeah where i was in RI it was consistent, not huge. Mostly close outs, but any day in the water is better than working.
Twas t I t t I e s where I was. Better than working fo shizzle. nynj is becoming the master of cynicism.
I would give up bodyboarding as it is much too demanding. Try investing in a nice SUP setup. Or a wavejet.
Magnesium will help a lot. Especially the over 30 people. Get a product called slo mag, problem will be solved.
