I have heard mixed things about him but you gotta look at where the negative comments are coming from . He does alot of charitable things so he's cool in my book
he totally rips and was good enough to be on the tour at one point,but,yeah,the whole 'he's a good person 'cause he gives to charity' thing goes with the whole fake hippie retro musician thing he makes a living off of,that hypocritical 'counter-culture' industry that is really the worst capitalist pig hypocrisy,i.e.,machado,patagonia,etc..way too cool for me.if they were so counter culture they should not accept the money from it and go away from society or,be honest about it,or,get a real job.so,yeah,donovan,machado,patagonia-hippy trippy and really good green people.makes me sick.phonies.plus the music is crap.
oh and,yeah,while we're at it, 'imagine world peace.' it's never happened,and we're not getting any closer to it,either.
To the original poster. "real" surfers hate on sponges. 1. To me i dont care what your ride on as long as your trying to or connecting/respecting the ocean and its attractions. 2. The sups long boards skimboards body surfers wrong board too old too young not hip wrong high school blah blah your obviously young and still have the time, energy, or care to worry about this stuff. I think you had a bad expierence with someone and it shaped this brain fart of a internet post to turn out this way. Yes there are alot of kids/low iq drama oriented people of the surf culture. To many categories to explain really. But all i can see is BE your self AND find yourself. As hippie like it sounds. I see alot of post that have a clear answer to me. But on the other hand i know alot of people reading the same post are unclear. Nothing in surfing matters as much as what you think of what your doing I rarely post on bs but there it is It sickens me a bit to post this but sometimes i feel responsibility, although i know it wont make much of a difference
