Emass, no rides are long here on the east coast, especially beachbreaks, but yeah, drop in, ride down the line till there's nothing left. i surfed for a solid 5 hours. Hanna, I def don't count waves, it's an approximation & the best way for me to describe on here how much fun I had. The only break that was working yesterday was the beach break, but, man, we're they great lines. And yank, I was there, down the road...so we must have both been out there. That little sweet potato is amazing in beachbreaks, I did push in one of my fin boxes, but I guess that's the price you pay...def worth it.
just cus we had a few windswells doesn't make up for the lack of groundswells.windswells keep us busy in between real swells, swells of consequence.a few waist to chest high days doesn't compare to board snapping thick hollow overhead tubes.its been a slow summer for some of us.all depends on who u ask lol, some say this summer was great,i say nay.i feel like I lost touch with all this extra technology, like watching storms on radar online.this year I watch and they disappear.few years back we had back to back tropical storms that fed us greatly.im not asking for weeks of waves like Irene,a few head high ts and a couple irenes for inbetween.i thought I was going to lose weight this summer paddling far offshore for the long period swells that break way out, instead I got fatter and spend my epic surf sessions on here lol.i just want one day to get a standup barrel before the 4/3s come out,iv been trunkin it the last 2 weeks.fuk wetsuits, thats for winter.i want one warm real wave
Sometimes I kinda do, in the beginning of the sesh. After the first hour, it becomes a matter of conjecture, later on with the crew in the parking lot, shottin' the breeze over some cold ones & tales of 23 footers. An approximation, as KB stated. Lookin' for 4 hours manana....at least a billion rides, eh...?
Just to set the record straight, I wasn't "worrying" about the lack of draining, double over head screaming barrels. I was just hoping to score something a little better than waist to chest mush. It happened quite a few times last year around this time... i just want a few snappable sections with a "little' power. A ramp here and there with enough power to lift my human frame out of the water once or twice. nothing fancy... just a little something. Anyway, this weekend should produce some nice powerful windswell. Questionable periods, but usually even 6-7.5 seconds is enough down here with the huge tide swings to produce some fun surf a couple hours before the high tides... if it stays at 4-5ft @ 7 seconds for a couple days like its looking, I will be plenty stoked. As sad as that sounds.
The wind will likely limit the fun level this weekend. There will probably be waves, but I am guessing they will be closing out. I am pretty tired of windswell, but that is what we usually get around here.
