Not so much "float on the wave" face, but certainly in responsiveness to rider input. Think traditional log (heavy) that has a lot of glide, but slower to get up to speed, vs. HPLB which is lighter, more responsive, and accelerates quickly. The log will also noseride differently... it will noseride more parallel to the wave face and locked in trim even on a more vertical wave face, while the HPLB will noseride more at an angle toward the beach, and likes a slopey-er wave face.
I wish I was smaller man... I read some article... maybe someone posted it on here I can’t remember... but it’s about being 5’8” is the best surfing height.
I believe all (new to you) boards go through a similar process, depending on the conditions, your attitude and belief. When you truly believe in a board you are way ahead on the curve. Attitude determines you Altitude within reason
The latest journal has an under water experiment showing three riders three different boards (single, twin, thruster...knost on single of course). All three barrels are shot from under water showing the water displacement on inside rails and also shows the fin relationship to the wave. Pretty interesting perspective...
It was in hard copy LB. Pretty sure the experiment was indo...perfect reef barrels with clarity and similar waves for each rider.
