Is there an echo in here? lol Bro, what pics do I need to effing post when I wasn't claiming mad size? You want me to post pics of the break so you believe they were really "fun" and I'm not just blowing hot air? Bro, my premise (should I use simpler words bro?) was that yesterday's swell had plenty of fun in it, not necessarily storybook size. Lol bro whether I post vids of Carver riding or not, my post about Carvers are getting dozens of guys on them and subsequently getting them very stoked. That's independent of whether I rip on them or not. The world is becoming a better place due to my Carver posts. Lives are improving because more cats get on them. The world is not necessarily improving in quality by me showing off on film or not. Bro, you're picking a fight here and not doing a good job of putting up a fight. Maybe you should stick to stuffing your face with pickle. We used to use your name when fueling the hype train during lulls in the lineup chanting for nature to send us some "barrells for Liam. Do it for Liam." (no joke) which is a sign of great respek, but we will have to revisit that since you go to such great lengths to be a Deutsch. Eat a dikkk!
lol I subscribe to the pics or it didn't happen mindset most of the time bro. You really want me to prove to you braddahs when I get "fun" waves, not necessarily big ones? You cats are just hungry for visuals haha
I'm sure somebody is going to come on SI and complain about monday as well. what a bunch of whining ninnies. seriously, this is what has been said lately the surf guy said there was going to be good waves but i didn't get any! i took the day off and everything. hurricane waves stink. there too big and long. i want windswells. there too many surfers! This swell would be better if we were on the west coast. for the sake of Pete. go play golf. you are ruining surfing. im not a big fan of Spicoli but he loves surfing. he seems finds the good in every paddle out. thats the way it should be. "hey it wasn't what i thought but i got few and the sun was out, the air was crisp, and i saw a mermaid!". im a cranky SOB. i know this but the ocean is one of the few places im not. the SI forum is my ocean when im away from the ocean. where i would like to talk about one of the one things im not negative about. Please stop pissing on the forecast. Its silly. Its an educated guess that swell info had been correct on way more than its not. Boomer told me the Giants over the Houston. He is right most of the time. Should i complain to CBS should it not turn out that way? no becuase its just as silly.
Their salesmen reportedly have to sell for tons of other skate/surf/apparel/accessory companies to make it happen. So in a short answer: no. I promote their product by word of mouth since I believe in it so heavily, it is so far differentiated from others in the market, and it has provided me with unlimited stoke. Simply a very satisfied customer that liked the product so much it became a big part of my life and training. Thus, I share the concept with others so they may enjoy it also. Not everything people do is motivated by money, just most of it.
Just checking, you are giving matt johnson and his hyperflex love a run for the money with your carver worship.
That may be true. The difference is that there don't seem to be a bunch of bros rubbering up with those wettys after reading his posts on them whereas there are some wise individuals that now place their skate shoes on Carver decks.
Bought a green room based on my lurking and partially on your reviews bro- so a voyeristic thanks! and the thing really is magical- it makes going to the store a shredfest- and I have skated traditonal non-swivel truck boards and parks and pools for 25 years
PeaJay, Good points, however: - there's nothing wrong with pointing out that they badly missed the forecast, they get paid to be accurate. A little off is certainly understandable given the complexity of forecasting, but off by a mile is a different thing. - "ruining surfing", puh-leeze, give me a break. What ruins surfing is surf jerks that just need to chill out.. lot of that got around
Bro. Let's call spades here and recognize that you badly missed the swell by charging the hipster/foamie break in Hampton. You were at the wrong place bro, simple as that. You had another 50-70 miles of rocky coastline heading north you could've got very stoked on with long period refraction. Only thing worse than regret is denial and lack of ownership to failure. You done fugged up bro. No one else's fault but yours and anyone who did the math on this swell and has studied up on all things oceanography/meteorology scored fine. btw bro, how was the conversation at the break? Because people don't go to that one to surf. You get some nice Instagram selfies with your lifeproof iphone case? Cams looked awful on it too. All it would've taken is a 5 minute drive north and the promise land would've shown itself. got kook?
good example of what I'm talking about thanks. SI provides per break forecasts, and missed it, get it?
There are what, 12 breaks in Hampton? I use SI for general area forecasting for places that have more than one break. Unless Micah clarifies that his Hampton forecasting is for the poseur break you frequent then I'm going to take it as general to the area. Let's get technical and say that it really did say 4-7 feet (big range) for the exact time you charged at. 4-5ft would be the norm and plus sets would be 6' and over. So basically, it's a 4ft forecast. You strongly contend it was 3'. Is that a major failure of a forecast if it's off by a foot? No way in hell. Similarly, if it was 3', then the plus sets would've been 4-5'. How can you not get stoked on that for waves, especially in wind less than 5mph? News flash pal - excluding the closeouts from the period (which were much less frequent yesterday than Wednesday) yesterday's stats that were verified by Jeffery's Ledge buoy (44098) and others in the area pointed to what should be very good surf conditions, if not optimal. Because of the nuances of this swell, it did not exactly perform to exact height of expectation based on what it looked like on paper. Needless to say, it was by no means a disappointing swell, especially if you knew where to go. Honestly bro, not that every good surfer is a mastermind of wave science, but generally if you're good enough to really rip up 4-7ft waves the right way then you've likely done your independent study to know where and when to be. Me thinks you were right where you belonged - with the other 78 kooks at the aquatic coffee shop. Accept it: YOU WENT TO THE WRONG BREAK. YOUR FAULT.
again.. the issue isn't which break was the best, nor whether or not the conditions were good/great/epic or not. the issue is badly missing a forecast, plain and simple. The difference between WH and OH. I got no beef with peejay, what he says has a lot of truth to it, but at the same time they missed it, big. now, this isn't life or death. It's a surf forum. chill out. what's with all the name calling?
