Ah the worst summer ever I don't know aboot all that Two summers ago it "went off" atleast every week Hey we even had some of those 9 second swells New Jerseyian sand bars seem to love Last summer was pretty uneventful and this summer is flat lining like it took a hot dose In 18 years I think there's been a lot of flat spells bruhs
the local meteorologist this morning even commented and said how the waves have been tiny this summer, he said it was good for the standup (kook) paddleboarders
Don't worry boys, I mean buoys, NOAA has come out and said there will be 4 hurricanes per day for the next three months. Wax your gunz and start doing lat exercises and burpees. Have to agree with Sigmund - the water clarity is off the charts and getting on the paddle board has been fun. Water is warm as hell right now, too. Surf, though.... worst summer ever. Can't wait for Kelly Slades wave pool to open up around here. Gonna score a season pass. Might even try and get a part time job there just to get a few chlorine tubes after 'work'.
summer sucks in NJ. Its too hot, lots of kooks, lifeguards, and no waves. My grass also turns brown and looks like ****. I have plenty of things to do to keep me bust these days, but I don't feel like a surfer this time of year.
With the heat and the flatness, I started going back to the gym. Water's up to 83 here, but it looks like yet another flat one today_____________________________________
Worst part is waves bump for a spell while I'm at work and then get flimsy when I hit the water. Had a 4:3 mutant stolen off top of my jeep two weeks ago while drying in NH. Was asking for it leaving it there but it was right in front of the shop and the camera. There is a distinguishing mark on the suit and best know that everyone with a mutant is being asked to show a part of the suit. It's like a DUI check-- if you don't unzip to show (blow the BAC thing or) it's an admission of guilt. Only in summer does this happen in New Englsnd. Also know that I have pissed extensively in that suit. It's 1/3 urine. And I'm sure I had some kind of bacterial infection (see previous posts). So enjoy my personal brand of filth. You've earned it. Bought a replacement on tactics website. They're getting rid of their surfing stuff and everything is cheap. 4/3 for $130. Anyway summer sucks. Dodging people in the water is dangerous. Rediscovered love of long boarding this summer. Rediscovered why I hate carrying and strapping longboards to the top of my car. Had a new groveler made up. 5'3.5", 22.25", 3". Looks like a couch potato. Keeps my fat a$$ afloat. Mini Simmons got me through first half of summer. Keep forgetting my grasshopper zen wisdom to just stay home on the weak ****ey days. Few good weekends of camping though.
The waves haven't stopped since I posted this 5 days ago. I have surfed 13 out of the last 15 days, and those two days I missed were surfable, I just chose not to or had something else I needed to do. Worst Summer ever? Nah, it's BEST Summer I've ever had! This time last year I was gearing up to move here and was only getting in on the weekends for the most part, aside from vacation time I took to surf during the week occasionally. I realize it's not easy for everybody to get on it when it's working though, it's all about being there for that 2-3 hour window when conditions are at their best.
Geez DP...I was over for the weekend and it was barely rideable slop. Pretty much a pop up and a really short glide...I guess we can call it waves but...IDK...crappy crappy.
Yeah, it's been slim pickings at a lot of spots. Where were you? And at what time of day? What was the tide? Wind? I guess i'm just getting lucky? Not saying it's been all time, but it has been fun where I've been at. Lots of other surrounding spots haven't been as good, granted. I've got the sand bars dialed in so I have an unfair advantage lol
Pelican to Hightower pretty much all day Sat/Sun. Got best at low tide but still was not that good.Yes...better than nada, and I was in CR last week when it was pumping so kinda hard to go from HH+ with some punch to gutless thigh.
Yeah, going from CR to this definitely is a stark contrast. Also, you were very close but just a little too far South those two days. There is a sand bar about 5-10 minutes North that has been working a bit better lately. These are my reports from the "Who's Been Surfing" thread from those days... Saturday: Sunday: Also, keep in mind I've been on the LB, without one it probably wasn't very fun, unless you had a mini simmons or something.
