West Lido was breaking at 5-7 ft...gee too bad I missed it because according to the report posted by: ShredPipe it was: "Sick Rides Glassy Conditions Was Only Big From Late Hightide Till Low"

I guess everyone else is 10 ft high and that's why they are reporting up to waist high in the other beaches.

keep in mind the subjectivity of wave height size.

yeah, I can see that been a factor but to confuse waist high conditions with overhead is a bit of a stretch...also the extra comment about how glassy and so on somewhat gives it away as an improbability.

I like to check the reports to compare the different forecasts and get an idea what the nowcast ended up like...lucky there is plenty of other reporters that provide credible reports

I'll keep my opinion about the veracity of the reporting to myself...I'll leave it up to you to if you want the "subjective" reporting to continue.

BTW: I also noticed a report from a sponsored reporter for Manasquan at 10 ft

    I have an idea..

Sometimes I think if people are BB, they tend to overestimate the size of the waves.

On Saturday I was at the beach with a friend of mine who is new to BB. She has never surfed. I BB and surf. The conditions on Saturday were knee to chest, occassional shoulder, IMHO.

She thought that they were overhead. I had to remind her - if you were standing up, but not on the ocean floor, at the trough of the wave, here's an estimate of where the wave would be. She didn't believe me. She was convinced that we were in overhead surf. And when the tide came in, which made everything very deep - well then she was convinced we were in 25 foot surf.

It's because we are prone to the wave face. When you're kneeboarding or surfing, it's a different perspective.

So, maybe some of the reporters honestly think that they are in overhead surf - because the surf is over their heads!!!!! LOL!!!!!! ;)

Reading the surf takes a long time to learn, I think, and not everyone gets good at it.

Then again, this is just MHO and I could be wrong. Just putting it out there for the sake of discussion.

    ShredPipe is a reliable reporter

Well ShredPipe really believes that is 1-2 ft overhead in West Lido in August...and he stands by his reports.

My hats off to his conviction and how he can find the right time of the day when it breaks "glassy and sick" overhead when everywhere else is flat

I'll share with you his defense of his reports:

    "What i Think Of you
Show Me Your Punk Face Please
I Will Be Glad to let you know
if u wake up at the right time
and are at the right place
u wouldnt have 2 worry about proving my reports wrong being
that u probly dont surf and if u do
u probly act like ur high and mighty as ****
y dont u just take the words of someone that accually
took the time to post about a day they went out
to surf and have some fun
unless u take all the enjoyment out of it cuz ur too busy trying 2
BUST AN AIR or SHRED IT UP
selling out surfing is the last thing that should be done

    and by the way
**** U YOU ***GOT MOTHER ****ER
    EAT **** AND DIE

ShredPipe...you can continue your conversation with the guy in the picture below...you both probably have the same level of maturity and can relate
I'll be "busy trying 2 BUST AN AIR or SHRED IT UP" :p
