Yeah dude, I was having my coffee, watching this thing live. Looks like after his leg rope got bit he was swimming as fast as he could the crap out of there. I don't think the shark was after him though, thankfully.

I'm gonna start calling my leash a leg rope from now on in Mick's honor and remembrance of today.

That part in your first vid where he picks up his leash and takes one look at the broken end of it, just says it all. Holy crap.

The slow motion vid really puts it into perspective too, that thing looks like it was fing huge!

So the chairman guy says after, We will not hold any competition until were 100% sure the surfers will be safe.
How can anyone ever be sure you're 100% safe?

There are a couple modern theories about sharks and what they can and can't see... most recently, they've discovered that most species of sharks don't see colors, but there are some that do see shades of green. There used to be a color referred to as "yum-yum yellow," which was that same chartreuse color that's on the bottom of Mick's board. Rumor was that many of the divers attacked by sharks would be wearing that color, which at the time became pretty popular.

I am watching the replay, and as the announcers are talking about the attack you can already see people free surfing in the back..
