In the market for a new wetty. Need a 54 hooded. I beat the crap out of my infiniti over last 3 or 4 years and have heard good things about drylock...

Has anyone done an A/B feel'er up on these? I know the seams are a bit different but they are priced so differently. Should I spring for a $500+ wetsuite or go with the cheaper one that has worked out in the past and I might find on a whiskey militia type site. Thanks in advance for feedback.

OR... anyone have a plan for a cheap drylock? should I shop for these in summer?

I have Infiniti 4/3 and drylock 5/4 along with drylock 7mm mits and boots.. I can tell you that in fall I am colder with the 4/3 in 50 degree water then I am right now in my 5/4 in 34 degree water and took it on some very harsh days when the wind chill was -20..... Point is spend the money... I did some searching and found my drylock and 7mm boots online for 370$$ so deals are out there you just gotta hunt em down

Whole new level with the Drylock. Not even close. The first response in this tread is proof of that and is not inaccurate. The two products are priced accordingly yet there's a certain level of efficacy you need to get to for a purchase even to be worth it. In my experience, which is a good deal of cold water sessions by now and enough to know the difference between cold and about to pass out from going real hypo, Drylock is the only option. Yes, you can find your Drylock 5/4 on Whiskey's and other discount sites in the summer. Got mine for about 250. Best money I've ever spent on surf gear.

Thanx for the input. All I got this winter is a 3/2 and it's been down right nipply for SC. I gotta pick up a new suit(e) this summer

Excel has a suit model called the Revolt. It is basically last years drylock at a lower pricepoint. I have one for my winter suit. Just as good as my older drylock 3/2. Got both from Whiskey.

I''ve had two 5/4 XCel Infinitys in the past, a 5/4 hooded drylock and now a 4/3 hooded drylock - 15 years of wetsuits all good ones. They are all very warm - so much so that i went to the hooded 4/3 because i thought the 5/4 was more than i needed for the Delmarva winters - even this one. The Drylocks are a slight step up from the Infinity. You dont need to spend $500+ for these suits i've seen them for +/- $350 in the local DE/OCMD shops and on Whiskey.

Thanks for the support. I will just show the wife this thread and spend the money. Are there infinit drylock wetsuites out there? I thought it was just one or the other....

Toss up between the two, I usually go for whichever is on sale (you're a sucker if you pay full price they are always 25-50% off somewhere on the internets...) Right now I use a 4/3 infinity and a hooded 5/4 dry lock and that hooded drylock is WARM and never, ever, ever flushes. Like, don't pee in that thing, you are stuck with it for the whole session. I love XCEL wetsuits they fit me like a condom, I've been exclusively wearing them for at least a decade. The new version of the chest zip, with the angle to it, is the bee's knees. They just keep getting better...

Does anyone have any used underwear they'd like to sell? I don't want to pay full price for new pairs of underoos. I understand if you've pissed, even shotted in them, and actually prefer it.

Either work fine. White briefs if you have them. Hope your piss is clear. Ahh, doesn't matter. How can we complete this transaction?

You are in MD? In all honesty i dont think you need a drylock. I just picked up the infinity for like 100 cheaper and im toasty in it in NJ. You have to remember that you can OVERHEAT in these wetsuits too even in 35 degree water which is weirdly uncomfortable. I bet the drylock is sick but my guess is that you dont NEED it unless you live in RI and north.

Yeah man, true story. If you're not duck diving and getting tossed OTF then you warm up to the point of heavy sweating even on real cold days. It's a fine line to toe and you're basically either hot or cold, sometimes both at the same time, and never in between. I hydrate as much as I can always and especially days in that suite.

Better to be warmer than cold though so go with the Drylock. You can always let in some water to cool down or pull the hood off. Not like you can warm up out there once cold. After all, there have been 29F water temp readings on AC buoys. Not exactly spring suite conditions.

60% NJ and 40% MD. Just want the most for my session.. getting to be in the domesticated series and just want most bang for my buck. I remember getting into my new infiniti and thinking it was worlds ahead of my previous wetsuite. Heard great things about drylock and didn't know if its worth the extra dough... even between this years and last years model is $200 difference

I went 5/4 shopping about three weeks ago. looked extensively at xcel wetsuits (have a 5/4 infiniti that's in it's 3rd season that is too big because I lost weight -otherwise it's still good), as one of my local shops was having a pretty good sale. When I got my infiniti a few years ago, it was a step below the drylock. now it's the low end, and the revolt takes it's place. The big difference I noticed between this years drylock and last year's/revolt was blindstiched seams -the drylock is just glued and taped, whereas the other two are also blindstiched. I've had bad experience with drylocks that were not stitched in the past leaking like a sieve, so I wasn't too keen on that. Ended up going with a rip curl f-bomb, and couldn't be happier, but that's another story.
