what is the best wax/favorite wax use guys use? my to go to is ms.palms if there is none ill use some sticky/bubblegum
Also, IDK about youse guys, but I use the wax comb to put cross hatches in the wax and then I wax over it in circles one more time to finish it off, giving it excellent traction, but it also looks clean.
Sticky Bumps basecoat + Bubble Gum Gu Wax on top unless I'm trunking it then something less sticky on top like Sticky Bumps warm. FU seems to flake all over the place. Gu Wax similar grip but more actually ends up on board.
I have tried the local stuff, mrs palmers or whatever is ok and jimbos works too. I find they just smoosh flat and do not offer much traction when it gets real cold IMHO. I have been using the really tacky sex wax stuff. It gets all over my ****, but is pretty damn awesome. It is like rubbing a glue stick all over your board like back in kindygahden. Favorite wax see below. rub all over the bottom of your board and between your fins for best results. You will go real fast and slide all of the rails with ease
so some people live by base coat ive used it a few times but they dont have it a lot around down here in the south. what is the consensus on base? sex wax is poison.
Started with sticky bumps, moved to Palmers then got a good deal on a case of Bubblegum.. so thats where im at right now lol
Smack wax. My uncle owned Jaspers before it closed and gave me like 100 bars of it. Super sticky and it tastes like m&ms too
Long time... No post lol I just like the old school mr zogs sex wax. They used to have some that smelled like rootbeer but haven't seen it around in a while. Idk I don't like it too sticky I guess. But you know- I'm not out there busting airs or anything. I mean I don't have photogs takin and postin pics of my from surfing Long Island and I'm not sponsored by saltlife ... Sooo the old school wax works good for me. Anyone else still use this stuff? Sometimes I get odd looks from the young kids who work at the local surf shop when I ask for it. It's like they gotta whip the dust off the box or something lol anyways... Works good on the bottom too, between the fins and all I don't use base coat or anything specially. Tried it a few times and it turned into a mess. I could see it helping in warm tropical surf tho #saltlife
I used base coat for the first time this summer, I always just used Tropical during summer, and then used that as my base for fall, winter and early spring, scraped the wax off in April, repeat... Really didn't notice much difference, but it was hot as balls this summer so maybe it was an improvement and I just didn't notice it??? Sticky bumps, but I do like Palmers when I can find it.
