That's f*cked up sh!t Seldom, my mind is blown. I had no idea about wildlife services, another unregulated government agency wasting tax dollars, breaking federal laws, and murdering without repercussion. Actually, after writing that, I don't feel so surprised.

Just an update of what's going on. The linked article is specific to Idaho but addresses aspects of the wolf hunt in all 6 states in which it is taking place. Sorry if you find this redundant, too non-surf related, or whatever, but for those who have expressed concern over this I am updating for you.

Also, countless domestic dogs and cats, and non targeted wild species, have been and continue to be accidentally caught in traps. Several dogs(like peoples' pets) have died, the most recent being caught in a conibear traps(baited to lure in the head then snap shut breaking the spine, often set up as to cause the animal to look up/stand on hind legs into the trap). Trapping is cowardly, extremely cruel, unneccessary, and only done for money.

Keep in mind this is going on while a panel of scientists from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and other countries have just released a report stating that 75% of the carnivorous/predator species on the PLANET are in decline (will happily provide citation if requested, should be easy to find though).

    End Rant

If my dog was killed in a trap I'd find the guy that set it, walk in his house and shoot his wife in the face. Than I'd set traps all around his house so that his kids would walk through them.

Exactly. And bait the f**king things with candies.

Pump- whenever I post a source I'm not 100% on, I say so (ie/that Fukishima one). This situation is far different and one that I have a pretty firm grasp on. And also one that's not as hard to seperate the truth from the hype on.

And nynj, in alot of those situations the traps were on public lands set where they shouldn't have been...closer than 50 yds from the trail, etc...Not that that justifies trapping, but these f**ks get away with a lot out there. Just like the wolf hunter that shot a man's Malamute while they were x-country skiing and got away with it...didn't even lose his hunting license. There's an ugly mentality still alive and well out there.

its funny how the human race can reproduce in number far greater then animals . So we control animal populations by killing them . get the numbers down because their a problem for us . I believe in the right to hunt responsibly . Not by ignorance . Maybe we should kill of some of are population too.Try to control the numbers . Maybe there wont be an issue for human and animal conflict . Making less of a human foot print . Were all on this planet animals / humans . We're the issue (Humans ) we kill everything , animals , plants , the ocean , ozone , are rights , by ignorance.

Free gun handouts in the ghetto. Hell give 'em shooting lessons.

"Hey thug life dude! The pistol was designed to be held vertically not sideways. And, you should definitely feel threatened and stand your ground when you've been dissed by the rival gang."

That's an awesome vid Clemson, thanks for posting.

Meanwhile, in Idaho, USDA Wildlife Services assisted IDFG in the aerial gunning of two entire packs in the Lolo wilderness area. 23 wolves killed total. This occurred throughout February and just was made aware to the public within the last week or so. Burn the potato fields!

Sorry I haven't had anything to say about this; it's because the shortsightedness in society generally disgusts me. I can't control their ignorance, just like they can't control their ignorance. Many people are out of f~cking control, and blind to the big picture. They just don't give a f~ck, and things like this won't change until they change. I'm not holding my breath.

No, I don't hate all humans, or anyone for that matter! I know we can do much better, that's all.

Thanks for keeping this thread going and giving a sh!t Seldom, Clemson, and anyone else who showed positive interest.

Ps. 3 log ins for this one, plus my post got dumped, but I'll close the page and/or close safari, not coming back to SI for a day or more, and guess what, I'm still logged in!!! WTF!!!

No need to be sorry Doug, it's a very frustrating situation for those who are aware and concerned...they are ignorant, out of control, and unfortunately I don't forsee significant change in the near future either. But thanks for your thanks, and thanks for starting this thread...it was not necessarily a subject I wanted to introduce here(because unlike little things such as choice of wavecraft, I actually get angry about this stuff), but once introduced I was obviously happy to participate and voice my opinion.

On a brighter note, Oregon is a state that is really doing a good job at using non-lethal means of predator control, let's hope it stays that way and other states will follow their lead.

Ummm...would it be appropriate to post a manual on how avoid getting caught while sabotaging/destroying visiting surfers' cars at your local surf spot. How about ways to poison your neighbor's noisy pets slowly and anonymously?
