Direct Action may be our only hope

I know a lot of you guys aren't as concerned as others about these matters, but I know some of you are, so I wanted to share an update and then I'm gonna leave this thread alone. A major change/overhaul in the language of the Endangered Species Act went down friday that has some pretty serious implications:

    http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_releases/2014/endangered-species-act-06-27-2014.html

Seems like it was some sneaky back room sh!t to me. I'm personally convinced the powers that be are gearing up for the final assault on nature, and have no faith in the legal ways to defend what's left.

I got to see highly endangered Mexican Gray and Red Wolves yesterday, at a location that's participating in the species recovery plan. The pair of Reds just had pups. Since a buddy works there, I even got to scent a stick and throw it into the enclosure. As I watched them I was obviously in awe, but it was a bittersweet experience knowing what's going on out there.

The 18th/19th centuries will not be repeated, not on my goddamn watch.

^^ Great post, and intriguing post on the assault on Nature. When China takes the planet....it will soak the planet in gore & it will be a bloodbath for every species.

They killed the Alpha female of the Huckleberry Pack in WA. Over a dozen or so sheep, that the rancher will be reimbursed for anyway. The pack will be lucky to stay intact, and more sheep will be killed by the yearlings with less hunting ability.

The USDA set out to allegedly kill the yearlings, and it comes out a week after the fact that they took the Alpha Female..."by accident".

You and me both man. I was watching this situation unfold and they were being so intentionally vague, and it stank of foul play.

So tired of these petitions/emails/etc/etc. I wrote my statement to the USFWS on the Gray Wolf listing, Mexican Gray designation, and red Wolf recovery program. Emailed my senators, and signed petitions. We need boots on the ground...they say there are so many traps out last season you couldn't not see them...nobody even advocates for violence against property...destroy the F'n things!

That plane coulda been taken out real easily.

Yea yea, I know, we have it great here in America. Who cares about a couple wolves?

Man, I couldn't get the video to play. But yes, I am opposed to using calls to lure in predators, and would love to chat with some of the folks in the comment section attached. No beef with calls to lure game that will be eaten. But that's a popular tactic around the NP buffer zones, those cretins try to get the wolves that are collared, and pride themselves in killing park wolves(using the term loosely as I don't specify since wolves don't recognize man made borders).

Clemson I've read in a couple different places that the murderer of Legend has to keep his identity hidden. I hope he lives every day in fear. I would love to know his identity so I could spread it far and wide.

The Montana wolf season started two days ago:mad:

Upon seeing first hand Ranchers Impact on wild areas, I've come to despise them, and could care less about how the grey wolf affects their cattle. I just watched this NY times video, and while it didn't change my opinion on reintroducing the wolves, it allowed me to have more of an open mind to the opposing side of the argument. Those that truly live off the land being affected by the politics of this "fiasco" are the ones I can relate to.

How can we argue sides when there are more politics than science involved? I am not sure, I still side with the wolves, however I find it interesting that a couple thousand wolves can cause such an impact on millions of acres of wild migration route... there are facts missing, and until some organization (environmental or political) can hold a study that determines fact, rather than just a winning vote, I will stand by mother nature.

There is a way to solve the wolf problem AND the problems we have with foster system. At birth, give all the orphan white gentile babies to wolf packs. If they eat em, eh. If they raise them, good for them. I say give them the white babies because nobody is going into the woods killing white folks, even if they run naked and growl with other wolves. White folks are the most protected species on the planet. If a wolf pack consists of two dudes named Larry and Brian, the pack might not get messed with. And again, I say give them white gentile babies because somebody on here mentioned the holocaust/rawanda early on, and lets face it, history would suggest that non white gentile babies integrated into wolf packs is not going to really matter when thinning the herd is on the agenda......

I thought that was a balanced synopsis of the situation, and actually like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. yankee for sending it my way last week, kudos hermano.

Thing is, those ranchers' mentality can be summed up by the guys who said, "we never wanted them here in the first place".

A couple facts to consider(look them up if you don't believe me, don't have time to cite):

-Of all cattle lost, 0.01% is a result of wolf predation. Disease(often times based on neglect/mismanagement) accounts for something like 25%. That's from the USDA. I don't know the sheep loss numbers off-hand, but these ranching fockers get reimbursed anyway, by you guys through taxes.

-In Idaho, more deer are lost to human poaching than wolf predation. USFWS.

-In states where wolf populations are around 500 to 600, there are tens of thousands of mountain lions(Idaho appx 50k), and bears. Grizzly numbers are less, but lots of bears when you factor in Black bear.

    A couple of my opinions:

-The current mentality is a combination of the cattle-man ethos of old with a twist of tea-baggin' 'Mericanism.

-The hunters that are complaining are the ones that don't want to have to leave their atv's to bag an elk.

-This is all about money and politics.

    These guys need to die.jpg

Pictured is Cody Gines and company, he runs an elk guiding service in Wyoming. This picture brought him a lot of notoriety, and imo, sums up their whole gig. This is what they are proud of. I had a dream where I was walking through the woods, and he was laying there, bleeding out from a recent gut shot. He asked me for help and i told him, I never wanted you here in the first place.

S.S. I was at the Georgia Fair in mid-town Savannah on Saturday. There was an exhibit labeled: "Live Wolves"... I didn't go in to it, but there was quite a following outside with a longer line than anything else.... How do you feel about this? I think their point is to educate people about wolves, in a positive way, but they still have these animals in captivity, traveling for entertainment. Albeit it alive.

Here is a link to another fair that had them: http://www.localsyr.com/story/d/sto...ew-york-state-fa/94978/0sSQvQys4k65cCmHF8J6LA

And again, I don't want to hijack this into a general non-wolf topic, but I had a very interesting conversation with a local rancher that came to Hilton Head about 3 weeks ago. He had a little "Farm animal Petting Zoo" thing setup. Ponies, Goats, Lambs etc... So, while my daughter was riding a pony, I started talking to the owner. He told me where they were based out of and how they do private events etc... And I asked him where he gets the animals from. He said that his organization goes to FFA conventions and events and they bid on the animals that are being auctioned for Slaughter. He said it all started years ago when his niece started crying when they explained what was going on, so he bought the sheep to help her feel better. Then he made a habit of it, now he travels around with a bunch of rescued farm animals.... It did feel good to know that this particular guy is treating his animals VERY well, and he rescued them all from slaughter....

Not sure where you stand on that, but is "seems" that this is what this particular traveling wolf act is doing.

    Thoughts?

It's pretty simple to me: wolves don't get hunted by humans. And the Gines family needs to be brought up on murder charges.

Go ahead & ***** at me all you want, whoever you are, I really don't care, you're wasting your breath. Seen is spot-on: gut-shot the fukkkers. Tough guys in Klan masks. Asswagons is what they are.

Ok, so I'm already biased...this guy rescued all of his 16 wolves from illegal fur farms. F**king hero. From what you've said and what I've seen, seems like this guy takes good care of his animals, is responsible, and has an educational purpose to what he's doing. It's these types of things that can make a child, or an adult, become interested and involved. He saved those wolves from being anally electrocuted and skinned half alive.

Imo, and I'm no authority on anything, if it's about education, not exploitation, and the animals are well cared for, I'm ok with it. Same goes for zoos...the whole concept bums me out, but we have a zoo here in CT that is involved in the Red Wolf species recovery program(which may end soon), with pups on site, and these programs are nedded to keep critically endangered species alive.

    F'n A and Godspeed hermano!

A guy I know is a licensed guide in Alaska and Idaho. I have had a couple of fairly heated discussions with him the last couple of years about the wolf / rancher thing.

He contends that wolves are decimating the Idaho elk herds. By Idaho’s own estimates there are estimated 120,000 elk, twice that number of white tail deer, half that number in mule deer and something like 600 wolves. Now I ask you, how many elk/deer does one wolf eat in a year? One a month? One a week?

The hunting groups provide estimates that seem to indicate that the elk/deer herd numbers are decreasing over the past 20 years, since the wolves were reintroduced into the lower 48. I am not sure that I find any causation there, and the Fish and Game departments of the various states don’t provide anything other than a correlation.

And the ranchers ***** about wolves killing their lambs and calves when 90% of them are running their livestock on federal land – forest service and BLM land.
