New Surface Pressure Maps

Posted: Tuesday Jan 30, 2007     By: Swellinfo     Category: Swellinfo

Surface pressure maps out to 180 hours are on all forecast pages

Surface Pressure/Wind maps are now being automated out to 180 hours.

Go to the main flash map area, and under Weather, click on Pressure/Wind Maps. The maps are for the whole ocean basin (North Atlantic and North Pacifiic), and show wind with wind barbs. Most pressure maps out there will only show the continental US or a bit of the ocean, so with the whole ocean basin, you can see the fetch that develops toward your beach in the middle or far reaches of the ocean.

If you are looking for higher res winds closer to land you can either check the wave/wind maps or the nearshore wind maps for the highest resolution coastal winds.
