Surfed LBI a few weeks ago for first time and had a heck of a time getting out. Was the weirdest thing. I grew up surfing OCMD and am used to no jetties to paddle next to but the flow of that place over the sandbar drove me crazy. Like paddling on a conveyor belt or treadmill. is that typical of the break.... fixing dings today when I get home from work too

Yeah it's usually like that in LBI, especially at low tide when a clean up set comes through. It gets annoying cus if you miss a wave in that set and your still sitting at the peak, you just start drifting from the spot you were sitting at for the last 10 minutes where it was super still. Once you get a read on those rips and the timing, it's makes the paddle out so much faster and easier. Watched two guys start paddling out last weekend and I waited 5 mins before I jumped in and made it out to the lineup at the same exact time lol. Could chalk it up as paddling power, but I'd like to think it was the currents haha

I'm gonna bomb some 23 footers, shot a pier or two, throw up mad reps and lbs benching on da beach then jump in my bad a$$ whip and go bang a hindu or two. Thats my way to honor the day and Shredmachine.

Looks like a good day for the wife to try out her new snorkeling gear. Glad I grabbed the 5 sec knee-highs the other day when I had the chance...
