This is a message on behalf of the BACK WOOD BEAT DOWN PROGRAM!
We love to surf but the wise traveler shall always cover his tracks. Do not venture into someones territory and not expect to get the back wood beat down when you post a STUPID video of that certain spot. I'm talking to VA beach crew who traveled north of the Mason Dixon Line and decided to be dumb enough to Tow into 2 foot dumps.
The Delaware State Parks in conjunction with the US Coast Guard has just posted an an announcement to close State Parks if this continues. The video of the IDIOTS towing into 2 foot shore break provoked some State Officials by quoting in this weeks State Park agenda, "This type of surfing and or assistance of jet ski surf crafts is potentially hazardous with in the action of itself and to others around." One of the ways the Coast Guard recommended to make sure this doesn't happen again is to Close the South Side Parking lot in the Off Season.
Thanks a lot you VA DIRT BAGS!!!
We don't drive down S-Turns, 2nd Light, or Rodanthe and post of videos on you-tube or swell-info of our sessions on your beaches. This is your fare warning; DON'T EVER DO IT ON OUR BEACHES AGAIN!
We do not care if you come and surf, but cover your tracks when you leave. If you come, do not bring friends. Traveling alone is how it should be done and how mutual respect is built.
I would have to agree for the most part, I gave the video a C- simply for the fact that it made about little or no sense under the circumstances. Sure it was something different to do, but...now we have this to worry about. As we all know, 4 to 5 times a year the place is as legit as legit gets for the East Coast. They already are assess up there as it is,... Enforcement that is,... telling people to get out of the water,... when at times it is actually the safest spot,...Current wise that is.
I definitely understand the anger, but lets just simplify the argument to just "do not tow there anymore". It is a state park and they are talking about shutting it down to surfers because of these incidents.
this is ridiculous. It's a free country. All this talk about your territory and your "crew". Give me a break! Anyone can go anywhere they want and surf. If they mess it up for you then oh well. Go somewhere else. It's pretty immature to risk going to jail for assault and battery by instituting your "beat down" program on out of towners. Those are not your beaches and you have NO say in who comes there to surf. I'm from NJ by the way so I was not involved in this but just had to let you know that you have no authority to say who can and can't travel for surf. Free country.
more dangerous than threatening a "beat down" if they come there again? Really, what other options do they have. If the guy wants to tow there then let the coast guard/ park rangers deal with him.
Backwoodbeatdown has no authority to tell someone he can't tow there. If they close the beach because of this what is beating the guy going to do?
btw: I don't agree with towing into small surf or towing at all for that matter, I also support covering your tracks when you travel as posted above and leaving the place in the same condition you found it. but do not support threatening violence if someone messes up your spot or trying to tell someone they can't come there. If this guy was a ranger or a coastie I would understand but he's just some guy who surfs there.
