Good afternoon! I can see the SUN and we have rideable surf! Whooohooo! Finally. It's nice to go to the beach and see surfers catching waves. Surf looks really really fun at the Pier. The Cross wasn't nearly as good. The outside at the Cross was breaking but it is really mushy. The wind is blowing out of the South at 5-7 mph causing semi glassy/choppy conditions. If you shortboard go surf! Seriously! It looks fun. Tomorrow looks like it could be really fun. We will give you another report at sunrise. Have a great Friday.
Good morning. Surf is up and really fun at the Pier. It's running chest, shoulder, head and even over head on some sets. I checked the Cross and it's about the same size but way more spread out. If you are a shortboarder go surf. It's still not much of a longboard wave as of yet. The wind is blowing out of the S at 7-10 mph causing for choppy conditions. We will give you another report later today. GO SURF!!!
The pictures tell the story! It is pretty flat this morning. I took this pic at one of our favorite breaks (that's no so favorite right now). To give the conditions some perspective, please remember that this time last year the OBX was recovering from Hurricane Irene. It may be flat today but the wave prognosticators are calling for an increase. NOTE: JUST FINISHED A GREAT STAND-PADDLE BOARD TOUR. OUR STAND-PADDLE TOURS AND SURF LESSONS ARE BEING OFFERED ALL THE WAY THROUGH NOVEMBER. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
Good morning! Surf is up and big! Grab your board and head out. It is solid shoulder to head high! Winds are not as hard out of the South at 10-12 mph. Looks like it will continue to drop today and tomorrow. The winds are going to drop as well. High tide is at 10:45 this morning and will be going out for the rest of the day.
Knee to waist high and choppy. Winds are on it from the SW early and will be all day. Should build throughout the day with possible clean up for tomorrow morning. More waves for the middle of next week.
