Still pretty nasty. I saw a couple of surfers at the Pier trying to have some fun but I think it is time to call it a day and watch the race. Lets try again tomorrow. Have fun and be safe.
The North to Northwest wind has pushed swell direction from ESE to ENE. But wave height has not increased . The Northern Beaches ( at this posting) have ankle slapper side shore chop and a wind chill in the low 30's. The sun is out which is keeping air temps up but tonight will a wood fire and the Academies. I just check a couple breaks in Brevard and right now its ugly. Some knee high sets and bigger on ocasion but lots of chop. I will check back this afternoon. Have fun and be safe.
some little surf today. too bad it's not better as some warmer water is in right now, i'm guessing in the upper 50's. high tide around 9:45 AM. wind forecast to be N at 10 to 15 mph becoming NE at 5 to 10 mph this afternoon.
Knee to waist high at best. Winds are WNW early but will switch to the W later in the day. Should see a SW wind swell building throughout the day on Monday with some small clean conditions expected for Tues.
The OBX had a change in weather yesterday afternoon. The result was a drop in air temps (from 76 down to 50 degrees Fahrenheit) and a switch in wind direction ( West wind blowing at 25 mph w/gusts). This has not helped the surf at all. We currently have a flat ocean as you can tell by the pictures I took up on the North Beaches. These radical changes in weather patterns are typical for late winter/early spring as warm fronts collide w/cold fronts. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
4-5ft. SW short period wind swell. WSW winds 35-40mph. Swell continues to build throughout the day. Strong side shore sweep. Choppy conditions. Looks good for Sunday morning.
Waist to chest high with strong W winds on it early. Winds could gust as high as 50 throughout the day. May see small clean up for tomorrow morning as winds are forecasted to go NW. Looking like more swell for the middle of next week.
